Actress Mamie Laverock is fighting for her life after falling five stories from a balcony earlier this month, according to her family.

Laverock, 19, best known for her recurring role in the Hallmark Channel series “When Calls the Heart,” was receiving care at a Winnipeg hospital for a “medical emergency” when she fell from the fifth floor, according to a GoFundMe page established by close friends and cited by the Daily Caller. “On Saturday May 11th, Nicole traveled to Winnipeg to help Mamie, who was having a medical emergency. Nicole was able to get there in time to save her life,” wrote Nicole and Rob Compton in asking for financial assistance to help Laverock. Upon intake, things took a turn for the worse after their friend's fall.

“Update: We are deeply saddened to report that on May 26th, Mamie, who has been in intensive treatment for the past two weeks, was escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories,” they wrote to the page. “Her recovery is unclear at this time but she is alive and is showing signs of improvement” at a hospital in Vancouver, they added. “We are trying to go every day to support her. Any contributions would help us be by her side. But this could be upwards of a month or more.”

The resulting injuries appear to be deadly, the statement goes on. “She sustained life threatening injuries, has undergone multiple extensive surgeries, and is currently on life support,” the couple wrote, adding they have no idea how the medical team allowed Laverock to get dangerously close to the edge of the balcony. We are all devastated, in shock, at this intensely difficult time.”

The young actress had staked out her career in 2015, earning the 2015 Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV Series – Recurring Young Actress Ten and Under for her role in “When Calls the Heart.”

“We are deeply saddened to hear the news about Mamie. As a beloved member of our When Calls the Heart community, we wish her and her family peace, comfort, and many prayers during this difficult time,” Hallmark Media said in a statement obtained by the Hollywood Reporter.

Johannah Newmarch, who plays Laverock's on-screen mother in the series, asked her followers on X to pray for the 19-year-old. “I love this wonderful family so much, and my heart is broken. Such a devastating time for them and all who care deeply for sweet Mamie. Please help if you can. They need all the support they can get to make it through this nightmare. Thank you,” Newmarch wrote on the social media platform.

“I just donated. If you have the means to do so, I hope you will too. Link in bio,” co-star Erin Krakow told her followers on Instagram.

In addition to her nearly decade-long role in the Hallmark series, Laverock has been credited for TV appearances in “Psych,” “The Killing Game,” “Wedding of Dreams,” “A Series of Unfortunate Events,” and the “Spotlight on Christmas” TV movie.
