The diverse spectrum of MAGA fans in the south Bronx last night was too much for the mainstream media to handle. In story after story, reporters played down the number of Black and Latino fans and other local voters who turned out to rally with former President Donald Trump or, in the case of CNN's Anderson Cooper, tried to insinuate that their enthusiasm was muted.

“What kind of response did he get?” the host asked his correspondent Kristen Holmes, obviously hoping for a different answer than what she gave.

“Certainly a bigger crowd than Democrats would like to see,” she replied. Politico estimated a crowd size of roughly 1,000, but the Trump campaign reported 25,000 attendees, including those who could not get into the main rally.

“This is one of the bluest counties in the entire country,” Holmes continued, adding that Trump's campaign plans to “micro-target” urban voters who may not seen MAGA lawn signs lining their neighborhoods but regardless will be likely to turn out and vote Republican in November. The plan must have worked, because the reporter admitted that the former president's Bronx rally was filled with, well, Bronx voters.

“I've gone to a lot of these rallies across the country, and there are often people who travel hundreds of miles to see Donald Trump and they're not necessarily part of the community. However, one of the things that I found was that there are a lot of people here who are actually from the Bronx.”

It's always fun for other news outlets to watch CNN eat humble pie when it comes to Trump. Fox News added that Holmes and Cooper were taken aback by how strongly the former president's message is resonating with voters of color in the Big Apple.

“You had people saying he doesn’t belong here,” she said. “But you also had a number of voters who told me that they had supported Biden in 2020. They were very unhappy, particularly with the state of the economy and they were looking for alternatives, namely former President Donald Trump.”

During his speech, Trump praised the resilience of New Yorkers living through a “city in decline,” a period he is sad to see after having “helped build” it while working as a titan in its real estate industry. Toward the end, he admitted he wasn't sure how his rally would be received; while there was a smattering of protestors on the outskirts, Trump largely summed up the event as a “love fest” among MAGA faithful who thanked him for being the first presidential candidate in recent history to visit the Bronx during their campaign.

Holmes added that Trump stayed “remarkably on message here talking about things that do matter to New York voters, talking about helping with infrastructure, helping with jobs.” That must have hurt Democrats like Governor Kathy Hochul and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) who prayed that rain would disrupt the event. Unfortunately for her, the skies shined brightly on Trump Thursday evening.

Despite receiving less than 10% of the vote from Bronx voters in 2020, President Trump has made historic inroads among Black and Hispanic voters who were heard chanting “build the wall” during his remarks. He has maintained that his campaign will work to win New York, a first for a Republican candidate since former President Ronald Reagan carried the reliably blue state in the 1984 election.
