Karine Jean-Pierre, who recently became a senior adviser to the president, celebrated by testing out a garish outfit at Monday’s press briefing, prompting scorn and ridicule in online conservative circles.

The longtime Biden spokeswoman engaged in a tit-for-tat with Fox News’ Peter Doocy, who challenged KJP to explain why the administration fast-tracked significant new funding for Lebanon but pressed pause on a smaller package for FEMA and victims of Hurricane Helene. Visibly agitated, KJP denied that FEMA funding was being allocated to support new migrants. Before storming off stage in an abrupt end to the moment, viewers got an extended look at the Biden aide in a purple shirt and large pinstripe suit that one critic compared to notorious Depression-era gangster Al Capone. Another said KJP bore resemblance to a “Batman villain” like the Penguin or Two-Face. “KJP is really fitting into her promotion as Senior Advisor to the President nicely,” a third wrote in a post accompanied by KJP in an oversized version of her outfit.

On X, users mercilessly skewered the staunch Biden defender for providing the 24-hour news cycle with such an easy distraction to fixate on. Another called to mind a similarity to the character Beetlejuice while a fifth recalled Michael Jackson’s music video for the hit single “Smooth Criminal.”

Others bemoaned the modern era where they said spokespersons are more focused on drawing attention to themselves than highlighting any aid, however meager, the Biden administration and FEMA are delivering for hurricane victims. “If this is the caliber of talent running this country, I do hope people see just how perilous a position we are in??? 🤔🤦,” one critic wrote in anger. Another added, “Democrats consistently give themselves roles titles awards that not one of them will ever and have ever deserved it. It’s like a little kids with a little game.”

To be sure, KJP was saddled with double duty this week after reports emerged over the weekend that FEMA officials were enforcing no-fly zones against private helicopter pilots conducting runs through the Appalachian mountains in search of stranded Americans. Other local officials threatened residents with arrest if they went back searching for their belongings, with both instances making national headlines. Conservative journalist Glenn Beck promised a forthcoming report on FEMA’s stunning failures, citing sources who claim FEMA is more focused on public relations than disaster relief. Those details were corroborated by South Carolina helicopter pilot Jordan Seidhom and bystanders in Asheville, North Carolina who encountered the authorities’ police forces.

News about reporter Bob Woodward’s book “War,” which promises a tell-all exposé of the Biden-Harris administration, is complicating KJP’s job as well. On Tuesday Axios and CNN reported on stunning details obtained in early manuscripts of the book, including instances where Biden blamed former President Barack Obama for allowing Russian President Vladimir Putin to gain a foothold in Ukraine. Elsewhere, he confided that he should have “never hired” U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, citing his mishandling of his son Hunter Biden’s criminal prosecutions.
