Actor Dennis Quaid, who stars in a new biopic of former President Ronald Reagan, grudgingly admitted he “really admires” former President Donald Trump for holding a massive political rally in the Bronx last week.
According to the Post Millennial, Quaid, 70, praised Trump's grassroots approach to campaigning in the deep blue borough of New York, telling Fox News host Jesse Watters that Trump is appearing more relatable to voters as his campaign for the White House continues.

“I really admire Trump for going into the neighborhoods,” Quaid told host Jesse Watters. “You know, people relate to that. They really do. If anything, all these events that been conspiring against him have actually made him more human to people.”
Quaid's latest movie, titled simply “Reagan,” premiers August 30th; judging by its trailer, the big-budget film promises to accurately portray the former president's upending of politics as usual in Washington — a rarity by Hollywood standards and one that Quaid said he sees in Trump.
“Donald Trump has been talking about cleaning house, which, you know, kind of making a clean sweep to start over,” he continued. “That doesn’t mean being a dictator. That just means that we started doing what the American people have asked us to do.”
Trump holds considerable leads across most swing states in the latest polls. From immigration and international strife to campus protests, President Trump has built a lead among likely voters that leaves President Biden relying on concern over abortion restrictions and protecting democracy; the incumbent holds a slim four-point lead in the latter category.
Like Reagan, Quaid sees Trump as a “man of the people” thanks in part to the ongoing trials against him. Perceived biases in the justice system, whether racial or political, are believable to Americans, the actor added, something that Black voters have also identified with in cable news focus groups.
Trump's strategy for winning, he concluded, should be must the same as the famous question asked by President Reagan during his 1980 campaign. “Are you better off than you were four years ago?” Quaid asked.
“It's a really good movie that reminds us of how America used to be and what America can be. It's a warts and all presentation of Reagan – he was a great human being,” he added.
