Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake have relocated from Hollywood to quieter, less paparazzi-infested areas for the sake of their family, Biel disclosed during an appearance on SiriusXM’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa.”
“I don't really think they necessarily respect that, you know, if we're out and about with our kids,” Biel said. “It can be somewhat country dependent, where if we're in this country, in the states, it's kind of like state by state, you know, you get hammered on the east coast, you kind of get hammered on the west coast. That's why we don't really live there anymore.”
“It's just trying to create some normalcy for these kids, and we want to share our family with our loved ones and friends and also, we understand that our job has this major public-facing element, so we understand that part of it, but also these kids didn't choose this. I don't want to expose them in any way until they have an ability to make that decision for themselves, you know?” she explained.
Biel and Timberlake divide their time between homes in Nashville, Tennessee, and Big Sky, Montana according to Fox News.
Both prominent figures in entertainment, the two began their relationship in the early 2000s and quickly became one of Hollywood's most-watched couples. Biel, an actress known for her role in the television series “7th Heaven,” and Timberlake, a singer-songwriter who rose to fame as a member of the boy band *NSYNC, made their relationship public in 2007.

They briefly split in 2011 but reconciled and married in October 2012 in a picturesque wedding in Italy. Together, they have two children. Over the years, they have managed to balance their high-profile careers with their private life, occasionally sharing glimpses of their family life with the public. Their move away from Hollywood, as revealed by Biel, was motivated by a desire for privacy and a quieter life away from the intense scrutiny of paparazzi.
“And I know…this very social media world is where they exist and where they live and that will be a very big part of their life and their reality,” said Biel. “I just don't want it to be on my account, so we try to engage in a way that feels authentic, but also just not, you know, blasting them all over the place and no disrespect to anybody who feels comfortable doing that. That's just our family choice.”
“They made the decision to get out of Los Angeles and take some time away and they were both so happy they did,” a source revealed to Us Weekly back in 2021, noting that the couple were “hardly ever” in California, but still owned property there. “They both prefer the country life. It’s great for the boys because they have so much space and freedom.”
Several high-profile celebrities have famously exited California in recent years, often citing high taxes, the state's political climate, and privacy concerns as their reasons. Notably, Joe Rogan moved to Texas, claiming the change was motivated by California's overcrowding, high living costs, and political environment. Elon Musk also relocated to Texas, expressing his frustrations with California's regulatory climate. Other celebrities like Gene Simmons and Chris Hemsworth sought refuge outside the state, moving to more tax-friendly and less politically charged environments.
The departures often create discussions about California's policies and whether they are pushing away some of its most famous residents.
