Former President Donald Trump announced in a Truth Social that he has agreed to a debate with Vice President Kamala in September. The announcement comes as the Harris Campaign has been accusing Trump of running from a debate, even though he has repeatedly agreed.

In a Truth Social post, Trump  wrote that he agreed to debate Harris on September 4. The debate will be hosted by Fox News, with Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum as moderators.

“I have agreed with FoxNews to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th,” the former president wrote. “The Debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated in that Biden will no longer be a participant, and I am in litigation against ABC Network and George Slopadopoulos, thereby creating a conflict of interest.”

“The FoxNews Debate will be held in the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, at a site in an area to be determined,” Trump continued. “The Moderators of the Debate will be Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, and the Rules will be similar to the Rules of my Debate with Sleepy Joe, who has been treated horribly by his Party — BUT WITH A FULL ARENA AUDIENCE!”

Harris has been attempting to stick with the schedule agreed to by both Trump and President Biden earlier this year. The two candidates had agreed to a September 10 debate hosted by ABC News, though Trump has told Harris that she would have to negotiate a new date as the previous event was scheduled by President Biden. In response, the Harris Campaign has accused Trump of looking for a way out.

As of early Saturday morning, it is unclear whether Vice President Harris will agree to Trump’s terms. Her campaign has not yet issued a comment on the matter, nor have representatives for Fox News.

If agreed to, the new debate will take place in the key battleground state of Pennsylvania. Trump is also pushing for a live audience, a deviation from the first debate between he and President Biden, which was filmed inside CNN’s Atlanta studios.

The former president did add that the new event would follow much of the same format as the CNN debate, which included a notable feature that muted each candidate’s microphone when the other was speaking.

The September 4 date falls just ahead of the start of early voting in the Keystone State and would come after Harris had formally received the Democratic nomination for president. Trump has been adamant about scheduling a post-convention debate in case Democrats again wish to select a new candidate and ignore their primary voters.

As of Friday, Harris has all but officially secured the nod, however, as party delegates solidified her nomination in a backroom “roll call.”
