NFL legend Joe Thomas did not take kindly to a bizarre TikTok made by someone who was offended by the national anthem.

At Mission BBQ, an emerging national chain restaurant, the company has instilled a tradition of standing for the national anthem at noon.

Earlier this month, country legend Chase Adkins visited one of the chain’s locations to sing the national anthem with veterans and first responders. A report from Outkick described the scene as “diverse” and “moving,” as veterans of first responders of all backgrounds were in attendance.

One TikToker appeared to take issue with the display, however. In a video that later went viral, a woman can be seen making a concerned face while trying not to laugh in between shots of panning over to the crowd. “I was in the restaurant minding my own business when all the white people stood up and did this sh*t,” reads the video’s caption.

The black woman continued to make fun of those standing for the anthem and suggested that she did not feel safe.

On Tuesday, Cleveland Browns legend and NFL Hall of Fame member Joe Thomas, who is also an investor in Mission BBQ, responded to the racist video in a rare X post. Thomas, Outkick noted, generally does not weigh in on culture war and political issues.

“I’m sorry you were offended by your country’s national anthem…hopefully you enjoyed the brisket at least!!” he wrote.

Mission BBQ prides itself on its dedication to military veterans and first responders.

“We believe there is nothing more American than BBQ. And nobody more American than the brave men and women who have sworn to protect and serve Our Communities and Our Country,” the chain’s mission statement reads. “We do what we do for the love of our soldiers, firefighters, police officers, first responders—all our loved ones in service.”
