Many of the illegal immigrants who violently stormed an El Paso border checkpoint earlier this week have been processed and released into the United States, according to a report from New York Post reporter Jannie Taer.
Video footage of this past Thursday's incident shows a large number of illegal aliens tearing down a perimeter border deterrent before charging a border barrier. They then proceeded to clash with members of the Texas National Guard and could be seen tearing down border fencing.
According to a report from the New York Post, some members of the mob were pushed back into Mexican territory. A sizable portion of the predominantly adult male group were processed and released into the wider United States, however, one unnamed source told the outlet.
Border Patrol official Orlando Marrero confirmed the information in a statement to local outlet KFOX14. ““The migrants that we encountered here today at Gate 36 will be taken to a processing center,” he said.
Despite the shocking disturbance, figures from the City of El Paso show that 743 people had been released from custody and into the United States. The large batch of illegals were either released on parole or to pursue asylum claims in accordance with President Biden's “catch and release” policies.
New York Post reporter Jennie Taer discussed the release of Thursday's attackers during an interview with Fox News on Friday. “Many of these people did get processed by Border Patrol under Title 8, which is what is typically used for what we know as catch and release. These are people that are mainly released into the country,” she said.
“So this sends the message to people around the world that even if you act like this, you can probably get into the country. And I think they continue to push these boundaries and to see what they can get away with,” Taer continued. “And here they got away with some really, really scary stuff and, you know, assaulting, appeared to be assaulting some of the National Guardsmen. It was totally out of control.”
The latest incident comes as border checkpoints are once again setting new records for migrant encounters under President Biden. The border is currently experiencing a “spring surge,” a time when improved weather conditions encourage illegal aliens from South and Central America to make the journey to the United States.
According to El Paso's online migrant dashboard, there is anywhere between 2,000 and 2,500 people currently held in Border Patrol custody on a nightly basis.
