Tensions are reportedly brewing among MSNBC staff, as some staff members and on-air personalities are upset with the amount of attention being devoted to longtime host Rachel Maddow, according to a report from In Touch Weekly.

“Rachel is the Beyoncé of the group, but she’s getting all the attention and perks and the others are not happy,” one network insider told the outlet.

The chaos comes just weeks ahead of MSNBC’s live convention in September. In Touch reported that Maddow is receiving “all the goodies,” which is leading to a lesser role for fellow hosts Ari Melber, Joy Reid and Lawrence O’Donnell.

“It’s a powder keg waiting to explode,” the insider told In Touch.

Network insiders told the outlet that Maddow’s perks include a star dressing room, VIP tickets for friends, and blanket approval for promotional materials.

MSNBC’s September event has been billed as “an immersive day-long event for die-hard fans” of the far-left news outlet. It will features dozens of hosts, including Jen Psaki, Katy Tur, Alex Wagner and others, in addition to the aforementioned network personalities.

The event, titled “MSNBC Live: Democracy 2024,” is scheduled for September 7 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

NBC executives are hoping to model the event off of “BravoCon,” which features similar events from hosts and cast members from the network’s various reality shows.

“Our colleagues at Bravo have created a really magical experience for their audience, and we have learned a lot and been inspired by what they have created,” said MSNBC senior vice president of content strategy Rebecca Kutler.

Live events represent a new way of connecting with MSNBC’s core audience, Kutler told Variety. “Our audience has told us time and again they are looking for more ways to engage. They want to create a community that goes beyond what they are watching on television.”
