Fox News scored a big victory in ratings for July, which has now become its most-viewed month in network history. The top program belongs to host Jesse Watters, according to data that was released by Nielsen Research Center. The month of July was super packed with a variety of major breaking news stories, including the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, President Joe Biden suspending his presidential campaign, and Vice President Kamala Harris taking his place as the Democratic Party nominee.

Then, of course, there was the Republican National Convention, just days after the attempt on Trump’s life, which was a rousing success for the former president, the GOP, and Fox News, as it became, according to Mediaite, the most watched cable news channel for every single event. And it wasn’t even close. Out of the 100 highest-rated cable news telecasts, Fox News came away with 99, while left-leaning network MSNBC only scored one. Fox managed to pull in more than triple its viewing audience for both daytime and primetime than that of its rival, CNN.

“In daytime programming, Fox News averaged approximately 1.9 million viewers, more than 260,000 of those in the coveted 25-54 demo. CNN meanwhile averaged 523,000 viewers and 111,000 in the key demo. In primetime, Fox averaged around 3.5 million viewers (approximately 500,000 in 25-54 demo), while CNN brought in 856,000 (a little over 200,000 in the key demo). On MSNBC, daytime programming averaged 721,000 viewers (82,000 in key demo) and primetime shows brought in about 1.2 million viewers (82,000 in key demo),” Mediaite said.

Looking back at data from both election cycles from 2020 and 2016, MSNBC and CNN lost viewers in double digits, all the while Fox has increased its numbers. Total viewership for Fox rose by 17 percent in daytime and 15 percent in primetime compared to its viewership in 2020, while CNN lost more than 40 percent in daytime and primetime viewership. MSNBC lost 40 percent all across the board, the report noted. The highest-rated program on the network was Jesse Watters Primetime which airs at 8 pm and brought in 4.4 million viewers. A total of close to 600,000 of those viewers were in the 25-54 demographic.

That’s not the only good news Watters has to be happy about. He also beat Fox’s The Five in its long-running streak as the highest-rated show on the network. The Five pulled in 3.9 million viewers with almost 400,000 of them belonging to the 25-54 demographic. And the success doesn’t end with Watters. Both Bret Baier and Neil Cavuto experienced their highest-viewed months since November 2020.

“Greg Gutfeld’s Gutfeld! continued posting big wins, pulling in its largest audience for the month. Primetime hosts Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity also nabbed a large portion of the audience, bringing in 3.3 million and 4.3 million viewers, respectively,” Mediaite concluded.
