Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) stepped into the national spotlight shortly after being named Donald Trump’s vice-presidential pick, talking about his challenging early life and vouching for his party at this week’s RNC. Following his speech, Vice President Harris blasted Vance, suggesting that his personal narrative detracted from the more significant policy impacts of a Trump-Vance administration.

“It was compelling. It’s a compelling story. But it’s not the full story,” Harris claimed on Wednesday. “Frankly, what is very telling is what he did not talk about on that stage. He did not talk about Project 2025, the 900-page blueprint for a second term. He did not talk about it because their plans are extreme, and they are divisive.”

On Thursday, Tulsi Gabbard slammed Harris after the VP issued her stern warning about Vance’s allegiance, claiming he would prioritize loyalty to Trump over the country.

“The audacity that she has to say this is off the charts,” Gabbard said on X. “She’s talking about J.D. Vance, someone who enlisted in the Marine Corps after the terrorist attack on 9-11, someone who deployed to Iraq in 2005, the same year that I was there during the height of that war, putting his own life on the line in service to our country.”

“Was Kamala Harris willing to put her own life on the line in service to our country at any time in the past? Is she now? No. Kamala Harris is driven by her own political ambition. She’s a self-serving politician who should not be in office,” Gabbard finished.

“He wants to direct attention away from his record and his Project 2025 plan to suggest that he and his running mate are going to prioritize the middle class,” Harris said when discussing Trump earlier this week. “But we are not buying it. As you know, I am a former prosecutor, so let’s look at the facts, shall we?”

Harris and Vance engaged in their first conversation on Tuesday. However, their teams are still ironing out details for an upcoming debate, said three sources familiar with the situation. Speaking anonymously to the Associated Press, they noted that while there has been no breakthrough in resolving differences over the choice of network and debate format, they anticipate that negotiations will kickstart now that Trump has officially chosen Vance, a freshman senator from Ohio.

“Obviously, we want to debate Vice President Harris because it’s important for the American people to see the contrast,” Vance told Newsmax on Tuesday.

On Friday, Harris addressed a gathering of approximately 300 of the Democratic Party’s top donors, aiming to reassure them about Biden’s campaign amidst widespread unease. Many attendees harbored hopes that Harris might step forward as the nominee instead of Biden. However, several donors expressed their disappointment after the meeting, describing it as somewhat condescending and unhelpful, feeling that their genuine concerns about the Biden-led ticket were overlooked.

“I will start by sharing something with all of you,” According to a listener who spoke with The New York Times, Harris told donors, “something I believe in my heart of hearts. It is something I feel strongly you should all hear and should take with you when you leave. And tell your friends, too. We are going to win this election.”
