In an episode of his “Politics War Room” podcast, Democrat strategist James Carville openly shared a rather disturbing insight into his thoughts on former President Donald Trump’s emotional state. Carville expressed a bizarre sense of satisfaction over what he imagines to be Trump’s private frustrations, especially following Trump’s selection of J.D. Vance (R-OH) as his running mate.

“I have to tell you, I take unbelievable pleasure in his misery,” Carville admitted during the podcast. “I fantasize about how he’s throwing shit at walls and ketchups and plates and screaming at Don Jr. and screaming at everybody.”

The admission was met with agreement from his co-host, Al Hunt, who chuckled along. “I’m with you on that,” Hunt said. The latest moment from Carville comes amidst a turbulent time for Trump. Just two weeks prior, he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt while addressing a campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania.

The scary scene marked a severe moment in what has been a contentious run-up to the 2024 presidential election, where Trump remains the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party.

Carville later said, “So I’ve talked on this show many times, and I thought that Trump was viewed by his supporters as a theological figure, not a secular figure. And of course, him being within an inch of having his head blown off is, to them, further proof that they were right, that God is protecting him. He sent him … Do I think it’s all horseshit? Of course … Do I think it’s a perversion of everything that you can think of? Yes. Of course … but to them, this is just further proof that he was sent here by God.”

Carville has had several public meltdowns over former President Trump, often criticizing his policies, leadership style, and impact on the Republican Party. A strategist famous for his role in Bill Clinton’s presidential campaigns, Carville frequently appears in media where he doesn’t hold back his disdain for Trump’s actions and rhetoric.

During an appearance on “Fox & Friends” on Thursday, Trump relayed his unwavering support for his vice presidential pick, stating that he wouldn’t have chosen differently even if he had known Biden would endorse Vice President Harris as his successor. “He’s fantastic,” Trump said about Vance. “No, it wouldn’t have mattered. And I thought she was probably going to happen anyway.”

“[Vance] is doing a fantastic job,” Trump continued. “He’s essentially for the worker. He’s seen the worker be horribly abused and taken advantage of. … He’s doing a great job, and he’s been very well received.”

Just ten days after Vance entered the fray, the political scene has been turned on its head, thanks to Joe Biden’s sudden campaign halt. Now, with Vice President Harris stepping up as the likely Democratic nominee, Vance finds himself without a direct rival. It might take Harris over a week to pick her running mate, leaving the race in a state of suspense.
