Several MLB players debuted new Trump-themed celebrations over this weekend’s slate of games.
In one instance, the St. Louis cardinals dugout could be seen placing their hands over their right ear while making a fist with their left. This was seemingly done in reference to former President Trump’s reaction to being shot at a Pennsylvania rally last week, when he raised his fist in defiance and chanted “fight, fight, fight!”
Cardinals outfielder Alec Burelson then turned to the dugout and replicated the celebration while making a home run trot for his 18th bomb of the season.
The Cardinals were not the only team to display a Trump-themed celebration on Sunday. After roping a double to right-field, Rays infielder Taylor Walls pumped his fist in the air while chanting “fight, fight, fight!”

Athletes from across the world of sports have praised and paid tribute to former President Trump in the days following the attempt on his life.
“It was a long night [because of the assassination attempt] and that’s all we watched the entire time on the way over here,” golf legend Tiger Woods said before teeing off in the Open Championship earlier this week. “I didn’t sleep at all on the flight, and then we just got on the golf course.”
UFC President Dana White, who, like Woods, is a close friend of the former president, referred to him as an “American bada**” in an interview with Pat McAfee.
“And let me tell you what, everybody wants to act like a tough guy right everybody wants to act like a tough guy well when the sh** goes down you find out who tough guys are and who tough guys are not,” the UFC president said. “This guy is the legitimate ultimate American badass of all time.”
Trump also received a shoutout from UFC up-and-comer Evan Elder just moments after the attempt on his life on July 13.
“Hey, I heard they just tried to whack my boy Trump. I’m glad that man’s okay. Long live Trump! Let’s go baby Trump 2024!” Elder yelled, drawing a thunderous applause from the Denver crowd.

It is unclear whether former President Trumps intends on making an appearance at another UFC event before November. He generally shows up at U.S.-based pay-per-view events and sits in the front row.
The next pay-per-view event scheduled for the United States is UFC 306, which is set to take place on September 14 in Las Vegas. It will be the first sporting event to take place inside the Las Vegas Sphere.
