Another media narrative falls apart: Abrego Garcia confirmed as MS-13 asset

Major media and Democrats in Congress insist Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia is a non-violent family man who resides in Maryland and has no gang affiliations. They continue to claim that Abrego Garcia was wrongfully deported to El Salvador and demand that the Trump Administration return him to the U.S.

But new information released by the Department of Justice on Wednesday confirms Abrego Garcia is a member of the violent MS-13 street gang. He was arrested on March 28, 2019, during a meeting with several high-level MS-13 members in Hyattsville, Maryland, according to the Prince George’s County Police Gang Unit.

The gang unit said Abrego Garcia is a member of MS-13’s Western Clique and holds the rank of “Chequeo,” with the moniker “Chele.”

Officers observed him wearing gang-affiliated clothing, including a Chicago Bulls hat and a hoodie depicting the gang’s “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” motif.

The gang unit’s designation was confirmed by a confidential source that the Justice Department says has a history of providing reliable information.

Agrego Garcia was arrested alongside other known MS-13 members, including Christhyan Hernandez-Romero (“Bimbo”) and Jose Guillermo Dominguez (“Maniaco”), both of whom sported gang tattoos linked to leadership roles. The arrest stemmed from an investigation into gang-related activity and followed surveillance by the Hyattsville Police Department.

Abrego-Garcia later admitted to being an illegal alien from El Salvador, having entered the U.S. near McAllen, Texas, in 2012. ICE determined he had no legal documentation and was subject to removal under federal immigration law.

In April 2019, an immigration judge denied his request for release on bond, citing danger to the community and flight risk: “The respondent did not demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Immigration Judge that his release would not pose a danger to property or persons. Based on evidence presented, including a validated gang field interview sheet from the Prince George’s County Police Department and testimony from a proven confidential source, the Court finds that the respondent is a verified member of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang, holding the rank of ‘Chequeo’ with the Westerns clique. The respondent’s appearance, associations, and behavior are consistent with known gang identifiers. Furthermore, he admitted to entering the United States illegally and has failed to present sufficient mitigating factors, such as community ties or lack of danger, that would justify bond. Accordingly, the request for release is denied.”

On appeal, the Board of Immigration Appeals upheld that ruling, dismissing arguments that his gang ties were unsubstantiated.

The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday declined to lift a judge’s order that the Trump Administration “facilitate” the return of Abrego Garcia.

The Justice Department appealed the directive of U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis, an Obama appointee, which she issued last week after the Supreme Court upheld the thrust of her original order pushing for the man’s return.

The 4th Circuit declined to put Xinis’s ruling on hold just one day after the Trump Administration filed the appeal.

The administration could now attempt to seek emergency relief from the Supreme Court.
