Any plots or schemes involving the assassination of former President Donald Trump will be considered an “act of war,” the White House warned Iran on Monday.
Joe Biden’s team reportedly has been compiling regular assessments and briefings on Iran’s threats against Trump.
Biden has directed officials to formulate strategies for any Iranian threats against Trump or any other American. This included notifying high-level government officials in Teheran to “cease all plotting against Trump and former U.S. officials,” Reuters cited U.S. officials as saying.

“We consider this a national and homeland security matter of the highest priority, and we strongly condemn Iran for these brazen threats,” said Sean Savett, White House National Security Council spokesman. “Should Iran attack any of our citizens, including those who continue to serve the United States or those who formerly served, Iran will face severe consequences.”
Iran denied knowing of any such plots.
The country, the top state sponsor of terrorism in the world, has accused the U.S. of meddling in Iran’s affairs multiple times over the last 70 years, starting with a 1953 coup against a prime minister in Iran and including the 2020 drone strike ordered by Trump that killed top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani.
The Iranian threats were discussed during Florida Republican Rep. Michael Waltz’s appearance on Fox News’s The Story with Martha MacCallum on Monday.
“I am hearing that there is hand-wringing within the administration about the validity of the threat, and my point is even if it’s only 5% possibility, the — gosh, I mean, how this would tear the country apart, the catastrophic effect,” Waltz said during his segment with guest host Gillian Turner.
“This would be an act of war, and America would come apart at the seams. And look, Gillian, public service should not be a death sentence,” Waltz declared. “We need to give him every asset. The administration said President Trump has the same level of security as Biden and [Kamala] Harris. Biden and Harris are flying in military planes with all of their defenses, we need the same for President Trump, too, to match this unprecedented threat.”
