Investigators in North Carolina say they found “hundreds” of child pornography files when they were searching the residence of Oran Routh, the 35-year-old son of would-be Trump assassin Ryan Routh.
The younger Routh’s Guilford County residence was searched on Saturday as part of the broader investigation pertaining to his father’s activities.
Oran Routh faces two charges, including receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

The child pornography was found on a Samsung Galaxy Note device inside Oran Routh’s primary bedroom. He also allegedly has another device in his possession.
“These files include videos from a known child pornography series created outside the state of North Carolina,” court documents say. “Videos from the series depict minors engaged in sex acts.”
The complaint against Oran Routh included graphic descriptions of videos of minors approximately ages 6-8 and 12-14 engaged in sex acts, and a chat from a messaging application in July, where he allegedly asked for a preview of content for sale.
Ryan Routh, 58, was charged last week and remains in custody over two federal gun crimes: possessing a firearm despite being a convicted felon and possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
Federal prosecutors issued a criminal complaint Monday saying the FBI obtained a warrant to search Routh’s Greensboro home and his person “in connection with an investigation unrelated to child exploitation.”
The FBI confirmed with The National Desk that agents also found several illegal drugs and paraphernalia inside Routh’s home. Local court records show law enforcement seized a black and gold tray containing cocaine, MDMA and ketamine.
The National Desk interviewed Oran Routh hours after his father was arrested for allegedly trying to assassinate former President Donald Trump in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Oran Routh blamed the media when TND asked for his initial reaction to news of his father’s alleged assassination attempt.
“You’re part of the problem here, and I resent it, and won’t reward it with my attention or effort,” the younger Routh said. “While trying to figure out for myself what has really happened and what it means for my father and my family first, the nation’s constant plea for insanity second. That’s part of the problem with everyone and everything, the sensationalist 24-hour news cycle.”
