President-elect Donald Trump was welcomed to the White House on Wednesday by Joe Biden.

It was the first time Trump was back at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. since Jan. 20, 2021.

“Well, Mr. President-Elect and Former President Donald, congratulations,” Biden said as he shook Trump’s hand with a roaring fire going in the fireplace in the background.

“Thank you,” Trump replied.

“Looking forward to having, like we said, a smooth transition,” Biden added. “Do everything we can to make sure you’re accommodated.”

“We’re gonna get a chance to talk to us on that today. Welcome, welcome back,” Biden said.

Trump said: “Politics is tough, and it’s in many cases not a very nice world, but it is a nice world today. I appreciate it very much. A transition that’s so smooth, it’ll be as smooth as it can get.”

“I very much appreciate that,” the president-elect added.

“You’re welcome,” Biden said.

Jill Biden joined Joe to greet Trump and passed along a handwritten letter for Melania Trump, who did not attend a traditional meeting with Jill Biden reportedly due to ongoing animosity over the August 2022 raid on Mar-a-Lago.

Trump entered and left the White House through the South Portico, bypassing hundreds of journalists who had gathered outside the West Wing.

Prior to arriving at the White House, Trump addressed House Republicans, who have claimed a majority for the next two years.

“It’s nice to win,” Trump told the assembled lawmakers, before joking that “I suspect I won’t be running again unless you say, ‘He’s so good, we gotta figure something else out.’ ”
