  • Bluesky, which has received millions of sign-ups from angry leftists boycotting Elon Musk’s X platform, has admitted that it cannot keep up with the number of moderation and censorship requests from its progressive user base.
  • In a post from “Bluesky Safety,” the company announced that it was receiving over 3,000 censorship demands per hour, leading to a backlog in its response times.

  • Brendan Carr, the Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission, penned a letter to the CEOs of Facebook, Google, Apple, Microsoft on the central roles their companies have played in the censorship cartel.
  • The four page letter calls out the tech giants Facebook, Apple, Google, and Microsoft for participating in what he describes as “improper conduct.”
  • Carr wrote, “Big Tech companies silenced Americans for doing nothing more than exercising their First Amendment rights.” Carr accused the tech giants of “working in concert with so-called media monitors and others – to defund, demonetize and otherwise put out of business news outlets and organizations that dared to deviate from an approved narrative.”

    Australia Unveils “Digital Duty of Care” Modeled on UK and EU Online Censorship Laws

  • Australia’s government is working on a set of new rules to eventually be added to a law dealing with “online harms.” But these could turn into yet more – well, harm to freedom of expression.
  • Addressing the Sydney Institute, Communications Minister Michelle Rowland announced that the effort is now known as a “Digital Duty of Care” and promises the result will be “safer and healthier” platforms.
  • Once, that is, the tech companies behind the platforms are whipped into shape to “moderate” and remove content to the government’s satisfaction.
  • And as EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA) and UK’s own Online Safety Act continue to create controversies and draw accusations of enabling wide-scale censorship, Rowland essentially promises that the result of her country’s effort along the same lines will be “even better.”

  •   T-Mobile’s (TMUS.O), opens new tab network was among the systems hacked in a damaging Chinese cyber-espionage operation that gained entry into multiple U.S. and international telecommunications companies, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday citing people familiar with the matter.
  • Hackers linked to a Chinese intelligence agency were able to breach T-Mobile as part of a monthslong campaign to spy on the cellphone communications of high-value intelligence targets, the Journal added, without saying when the attack took place.
  • “T-Mobile is closely monitoring this industry-wide attack,” a company spokesperson told Reuters in an email.
  • “At this time, T-Mobile systems and data have not been impacted in any significant way, and we have no evidence of impacts to customer information.”
  • It was unclear what information, if any, was taken about T-Mobile customers’ calls and communications records, according to the WSJ report.

    Bucks County Officials Defy PA Supreme Court, Count Ballots Missing Signatures
  • Bucks County Commissioners openly defied the Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Thursday by moving to count provisional ballots missing a signature as Democrats and Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) challenge Senator-elect Dave McCormick’s (R-PA) election victory.
  • Bucks County Board of Commissioners Chair Robert J. Harvie Jr. (D) and Vice Chair Diane Ellis-Marseglia (D) decided to count provisional ballots that were missing a signature in one of two places, which officials call “block two” and “block four.” The third commissioner, Gene DiGirolamo (R), was the lone dissenting voice to oppose the Democrats’ challenge to count the ballots.

  • According to Section 3050(a.4) of the election code, highlighted in the court’s decision, those voting via provisional ballot must also submit a signed affidavit.
  • After Deputy County Solicitor Daniel Grieser advised them that “unless it’s signed by the voter in two places… we shouldn’t count these,” Ellis-Marseglia and Harvie Jr decided to count the votes missing one signature anyway.

  • A week after cellphone users across the U.S. reported a flurry of racist text messages, members of the Hispanic and LGBTQ communities are now receiving text messages saying they have been selected for deportation or to report to a re-education camp, according to a new statement from the FBI.
  • The messages follow reports of African American and Black residents receiving racist texts in the days after the 2024 election that they were selected to “pick cotton on a plantation,” according to the FBI.
