The Guardian has announced it will no longer post content on Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, from its official accounts.
In an announcement to readers, the news organisation said it considered the benefits of being on the platform formerly called Twitter were now outweighed by the negatives, citing the “often disturbing content” found on it.
“We wanted to let readers know that we will no longer post on any official Guardian editorial accounts on the social media site X,” the Guardian said.
The Guardian has more than 80 accounts on X with approximately 27 million followers.
The Guardian said content on the platform about which it had longstanding concerns included far-right conspiracy theories and racism. It added that the site’s coverage of the US presidential election had crystallised its decision.

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan on Tuesday sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, demanding information about a tool that the bureau allegedly uses to monitor and help censor Americans’ social media posts.
In particular, Jordan raised concerns about possible “prebunking [of] a true story concerning the Biden family’s influence peddling ahead of the 2020 presidential election.”
Jordan highlighted testimony from an FBI Criminal Investigative Division Analyst previously assigned to the Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF), who claimed the task force was allegedly coordinating with social media companies leading up to the 2024 election to “monitor and flag social media posts, by both American citizens and foreign actors, ‘indicative of potential criminal conduct.'”
The FBI allegedly used software tools to search open-source databases for the social media posts.
The chairman requested a briefing on the agency’s use of the tools by Nov. 26.
A CIA official has been charged with leaking highly classified US documents about Israel’s potential plan to strike back against Iran over a missile attack.
Asif W. Rahman, who worked overseas for the agency and held a top secret security clearance, was arrested by the FBI in Cambodia on Tuesday over the leaks,
His arrest comes after the top secret materials started circulating online last month detailing Israel’s apparent intention to retaliate after Iran launched a barrage of missiles back on Oct. 1.
The files, which were prepared by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, in part detailed satellite imagery tied to the potential Israeli strike, as well as the various kinds of missiles on hand.
The top secret files were only meant to be seen by those with proper clearance in the US and the other members of the “Five Eyes” intelligence alliance — Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
Iran is reportedly postponing its promised third ballistic missile attack on Israel in the hope of reaching a deal with President-elect Donald Trump, who has taken a hard line on Iran but has also expressed hope of a new agreement.
It is not clear whether Iran has refrained for strategic reasons, or because Israel destroyed its ability to attack again.

Rosa Brooks, a Georgetown law professor and former official in the Obama administration who leads the Democracy Futures Project, a series of role-play simulation exercises, claims the results of the recent simulations offered “sobering” lessons.
“This is very bad, and we are not nearly ready for what’s coming our way,” she writes.
The alarmist “war game” scenario organized by the heavily Soros-financed Brennan Center for Justice, saw almost 200 “players” simulating a second Trump administration.
According to Brooks, the simulations anticipated the administration would immediately veer toward autocracy.

Drawing from scenarios designed to portray Trump as a threat to democracy, these role-playing exercises reflect the same polarizing narrative Brooks and similar organizations have used since Trump’s first term.
The simulations portray mass arrests, federal crackdowns on civil liberties, and an exaggerated portrayal of potential military use against protesters. Brooks insists Trump supporters would mischaracterize any left-leaning protests as violent, even using AI-generated deepfakes to stoke public fears:

Republican Wisconsin Senate candidate Eric Hovde has broken his silence in a powerful video posted on X, addressing the shocking developments that transpired during the recent election.
Hovde’s remarks come in the wake of widespread concerns among voters regarding the integrity of the electoral process, particularly in Milwaukee, where anomalies have raised serious questions about the legitimacy of the results.
“Many people have been wondering why I have remained quiet since election night. I believe it’s better not to comment until I have the facts. The Wisconsin Election Commission is in the final process of finalizing the canvass from last Tuesday’s election. Like many of my supporters, I was shocked by what unfolded on election night. At 1:00 AM, I was receiving calls of congratulations, and based on the models, it appeared I would win the Senate race,” Hovde said.
