Euro zone inflation accelerated in December, an unwelcome but anticipated blip that is unlikely to derail further interest rate cuts from the European Central Bank.
Inflation in the 20 nations sharing the euro picked up to 2.4% last month from 2.2% in November, Eurostat said today, in line with expectations in a Reuters poll of economists, lifted by more expensive energy and stubbornly high services costs.
From BLOOMBERG: “Energy analysts say it WON’T MAKE MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE IN U.S. OIL PRODUCTION. Tom Kloza, Oil Price Service global head of energy analysis, said it’s NOT PARTICULARLY CONSEQUENTIAL FOR U.S. EXPLORATION & PRODUCTION GOING FORWARD…..there are plenty of existing offshore rigs pumping oil in the Gulf of Mexico. Don’t see it having ANY REAL IMPACT ON U.S. SUPPLY, EXPORTS, IMPORTS.”
From OFFSHORE: “Biden’s order would not affect central & western parts of the Gulf of Mexico, WHERE MOST U.S. OFFSHORE DRILLING TAKES PLACE.”
“The action is a law that gives presidents broad authority to withdraw federal waters from FUTURE oil/gas leasing & dev.”
“The move could allow the U.S. to meet future energy needs w/out jeopardizing areas important to NATIONAL SECURITY, coastal communities, marine life.”

There is a reason why Trump has been wanting to buy Greenland since his first administration. It's all part of his trade war with China.
China used a company called Greenland Minerals to get their hands on valuable minerals in the country. Chinese company, Shenghe Resources… pic.twitter.com/D8hLVxxqXw
Holdings, is the largest stakeholder in Greenland Minerals. So they have been essentially mining and moving their way into Greenland for years now. China is essentially processing rare earth concentrates that contains the radioactive elements uranium and thorium. So this isn’t just for some meme that Trump is doing this. The land has strategic value. Around the exact same time that Trump first brought buying Greenland to the forefront, he told reporters that he was the “chosen one” to win the trade wars with China. Listen to him closely in this last clip: “Over the last five years, China has made 500 billion dollars. Ripped it out of the United States. Somebody had to do it. I am the chosen one. So I’m taking on China on trade. And you know what? We are winning. We are the piggy back, we are the ones that all these countries wants to rob and take advantage of. I was put here by people to do a great job and that’s what I am doing.”
President-elect Trump declared interest rates are too high even as he decried still-elevated inflation,
“We are inheriting a difficult situation from the outgoing administration, and they’re trying everything they can to make it more difficult. Inflation is continuing to rage, and interest rates are far too high,” Trump said during a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.
During the elections, Trump also suggested he should “have at least a say” over monetary policy because he “made a lot of money.” While he appeared to soften that stance during an interview with Bloomberg, he still said “it’s fine for a president to talk.”
“It doesn’t mean that they have to listen,” Trump said.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) has responded to the mounting criticism about how unsafe and violent New York City’s subway has gotten, saying the recent “surge” in crimes on the transit system “cannot continue.”
Touting her deployment of 1,000 National Guard members to patrol the subway and the installation of cameras in every subway car, Hochul said her methods are “helping police solve crimes even faster,” according to a Friday statement from her office.
“The recent surge in violent crimes in our public transit system cannot continue — and we need to tackle this crisis head-on,” the governor began. “Many of these horrific incidents have involved people with serious untreated mental illness, the result of a failure to get treatment to people who are living on the streets and are disconnected from our mental health care system.”

Meta, the company that owns both Facebook and Instagram, announced it is discontinuing its third-party fact-checking program after years of censoring conservative speech. In its place, Meta will adopt a user-generated “Community Notes” system, similar Elon Musk’s social media platform, X.
Mark Zuckerberg announced the change on Facebook. He says he wants to restore free expression. Hmm.
This shift will begin in the United States, where Meta will terminate its collaborations with so-called independent fact-checkers. The decision stems from the belief that these expert fact-checkers introduced their own biases into the process, leading to an excessive amount of content being fact-checked.

NEW: Mark Zuckerberg announces massive new changes at META, admits the company went too far with censoring Americans.
Good.
Zuckerberg also said they are moving the content moderation team from California to Texas.
They bias fact checkers interfered in the election, interevered in the election, and investigations.
So the question is would Zuck be doing this if KH won, most likely no. Why didn’t he push back from the beginning
The EU has taken steps towards regulating AI, including its use in social media. The EU’s AI Act, which aims to set global standards for AI regulation, includes provisions related to transparency, high-risk systems, and government use, which could involve monitoring social media for content moderation or other purposes. This act covers aspects like transparency and the regulation of high-risk AI systems, which might include AI used for monitoring social media.
The WEF has highlighted the risks and opportunities associated with AI in various reports and discussions, including the potential for AI to be used in monitoring social media for misinformation and disinformation. Their Global Risks Report 2024 pointed out AI’s role in potentially exacerbating societal divides through misinformation, which implicitly suggests monitoring or regulation of such content on social platforms.
Meta has announced a shift from third-party fact-checking to a “Community Notes” model, where users contribute and rate notes for added context to posts. This system aims to provide more context and reduce bias, mirroring the approach seen on X. However, the effectiveness of such a system in preventing manipulation, especially by AI, remains under scrutiny.
Potential for AI Manipulation:
AI could potentially be used to generate a large number of community notes. If AI accounts are created, they could be programmed to contribute notes that push a certain narrative or misinformation. Posts on X suggest concerns that AI might be used to skew community notes in favor of official narratives or against dissenting opinions.
The algorithms that decide which notes are shown and how they are ranked could be influenced by AI if they are designed to favor notes that receive a certain type of interaction. AI could be used to simulate human-like engagement patterns to manipulate which notes gain visibility.
The discussion around AI in community notes also touches on the inherent biases AI systems might have, either through their training data or through deliberate manipulation by those who control the AI. This could lead to a system where the most frequent or popular notes are not necessarily the most accurate or helpful. s

In a shocking (ahem) development, CBS News, ABC News, and NBC News on Monday blamed incoming President Donald Trump for the resignation of Canada’s embattled far-left Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Trudeau made the expected announcement on Monday, saying in an address to the nation that he was stepping down as leader of Canada’s Liberal Party and his Prime Minister post once a replacement is chosen for both roles. Meanwhile, Parliament will be prorogued, or suspended, until March 24.
Trudeau facing growing discontent over the economy and immigration, and divisions in his own government. President-Elect Trump has also threatened major tariffs for Canada. Trudeau will stay in office until at least March.

Trump is using tariffs like a weapon. He says he will tariff Denmark at a high level if they don't go along with him and he tells us why he wants Greenland plainly: China and Russia have moved in on the country.
They should give it up because we need it for national security. You don’t even need binoculars. You look outside (Greenland) and you have China ships all over the place, Russian ships all over the place. We are not letting that happen… The people are going to probably vote for independence or to come into the United States. But if they did do that, then I would tariff Denmark at a very high level.”
The Danish king has shocked some historians by changing the royal coat of arms to more prominently feature Greenland and the Faroe Islands – in what has also been seen as a rebuke to Donald Trump.
For 500 years, previous Danish royal coats of arms have featured three crowns, the symbol of the Kalmar Union between Denmark, Norway and Sweden, which was led from Denmark between 1397 and 1523. They are also an important symbol of its neighbour Sweden.
But in the updated version, the crowns have been removed and replaced with a more prominent polar bear and ram than previously, to symbolise Greenland and the Faroe Islands respectively.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer may end his country’s security partnership with the United States if Donald Trump does not distance himself from Elon Musk’s recent comments on grooming gangs.

A rigorous nine-year research review looking at the relationship between fluoride and intelligence in children concludes that as fluoride levels rise, IQ drops.
Every 1 part per million increase in fluoride in urine — a way of measuring all the sources of fluoride a person consumes — was associated with a roughly 1 point drop in a child’s IQ score, the review concluded.
Although an impact like that may seem small for any one person, on a wider scale, the study authors note, the consequences are significant, especially for those who are vulnerable because of risk factors like poverty and nutrition.
“A 5-point decrease in a population’s IQ would nearly double the number of people classified as intellectually disabled,” they write in their conclusions.
The study, which was published Monday in the journal JAMA Pediatrics, comes with a backstory. It was conducted by scientists at the government’s National Toxicology Program, which evaluates chemicals and other things people are exposed to, like cell phone radiation, for their potential to harm health. It began in 2015 and was subject to several rounds of reviews in a process that some critics charge was designed to delay its public release.

Not a single Capitol police officer was killed on January 6, 2021, yet Attorney General Merrick Garland’s dishonest statement about the protest released Monday may have people thinking otherwise.
“On this day, four years ago, police officers were brutally assaulted while bravely defending the United States Capitol. They were punched, tackled, tased, and attacked with chemical agents that burned their eyes and skin,” Garland said. “Today, I am thinking of the officers who still bear the scars of that day as well as the loved ones of the five officers who lost their lives in the line of duty as a result of what happened to them on January 6, 2021.”
But not a single officer was killed by any January 6 defendants — which is perhaps why not a single defendant was charged with manslaughter or murder.
Officer Brian Sicknick died of natural causes on Jan. 7 after suffering two strokes, according to the Washington D.C. chief medical examiner. Members of the propaganda press, however, spent weeks telling America that Sicknick was beaten to death with a fire extinguisher during the protest (I’m looking at you, New York Times).
Four other officers died by suicide within months of the protest — including two officers who were not present for the actual protest. Metropolitan Police Officer Kyle DeFreytag was not present for the actual protest, but later “helped enforce the curfew put in place after a mob of supporters” of then-President Donald Trump entered the Capitol Building, according to People Magazine. Officer Gunther Hashida also died by suicide after having not been present for the riot itself but responding to it.
In fact, The Washington Post reported that “Authorities drew no connection between the riot and [Hashida’s] death.”
“An official familiar with the investigation said Hashida had struggles beyond Jan. 6 that could have played a role,” the report continued.
The New York Times reported Monday that the Biden regime has decided to release 11 dangerous Islamist Yemeni terrorists from Guantanamo Bay to Oman for them to supposedly ‘start new lives.’ Oman has supposedly ensured they will ‘monitor’ the newly released prisoners.
As NPR notes, all of these savages were captured following the 9/11 terror attacks. Some had been cleared for transfer previously under the Barack Obama regime but remained at Gitmo for political and diplomatic factors.
In recent weeks, the U.S. has also released four other Guantánamo inmates: a Kenyan, a Tunisian and two Malaysians. This cuts the total number of prisoners at Gitmo precisely in half, from 30 to 15 prisoners.
Per NPR, here are the names of the terrorists released by Biden on Monday:
• Uthman Abdul al-Rahim
• Muhammed Uthman
• Moath Hamza Ahmed al-Alwi
• Zuhail Abdo Anam Said al-Sharabi
• Hani Saleh Rashid Abdullah
• Omar Mohammed Ali al-Rammah (alternative name: Zakaria Al-Baidany)
• Tawfiq Nasir Ahmed al-Bihani
• Sanad Yislam al-Kazimi
• Hassan Mohammed Ali Bin Attash
• Abdu Ali al-Hajj Sharqawi
• Abdulsalam al-Hela (alternative name: Abd al-Salam al-Hilah)
Every single one of the Yemeni terrorists released Monday were members of Al-Qaeda before being captured by America. Prior to arriving at Gitmo between 2002 and 2004, many were held at secret overseas CIA prisons known as black sites.
However, the Biden regime believes they no longer pose enough of a threat to justify their continued imprisonment. This will likely prove a fatal error.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer lashed out at Trump for considering January 6 pardons while staying silent after Biden released 11 dangerous Islamic terrorists from Guantanamo Bay prison.

The REINS Act would restore Constitutional balance in our government and return lawmaking authority to the legislature by requiring that all major rules promulgated by the executive branch first come to Congress for approval.
The REINS Act, or Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny Act, is a legislative proposal aimed at increasing congressional oversight over the rulemaking process of federal agencies.
The primary goal of the REINS Act is to reassert Congress’s legislative authority by requiring that “major rules” proposed by federal agencies must be approved by both the House and Senate before they can take effect. This is intended to prevent excessive regulatory overreach by the executive branch.
Definition of a “Major Rule”: A “major rule” is defined under the Act as any federal rule or regulation that results in an annual economic impact of $100 million or more, a major increase in costs or prices for consumers, industries, or geographic regions, or significant adverse effects on competition, employment, investment, productivity, innovation, or the ability of U.S.-based enterprises to compete with foreign-based enterprises.
Process: Under the REINS Act, once a major rule is proposed, it must go through a congressional approval process. A joint resolution from Congress is needed to approve the rule, which then requires the President’s signature. If Congress does not approve the rule within 70 days, it does not take effect. For nonmajor rules, Congress still retains the ability to disapprove them through a joint resolution.
Supporters’ Arguments: Proponents argue that the REINS Act would increase transparency and accountability in the regulatory process, ensuring that significant regulatory actions have the explicit approval of elected officials rather than unelected bureaucrats. They see it as a way to curb the administrative state’s power, align regulations more closely with legislative intent, and reduce regulatory burdens on businesses and the economy.
Opponents’ Arguments: Critics of the REINS Act argue that it would significantly slow down the implementation of necessary regulations, potentially delaying important public health, safety, and environmental protections. They contend that this could make the regulatory process more susceptible to political gridlock and less responsive to urgent issues. Additionally, there are concerns about the constitutionality of the Act, particularly regarding the separation of powers and the potential for legislative vetoes.
Thomas Jefferson often emphasized the importance of simplicity in law. He believed laws should be accessible and understandable to ordinary citizens, advocating for a government that does not overcomplicate regulations. Jefferson’s views can be seen in his statement regarding laws being made for men of ordinary understanding, suggesting a preference for straightforward, clear regulations rather than complex ones.
James Madison and others were concerned about the concentration of power, which extended to regulatory power. Madison’s writings in the Federalist Papers, particularly Federalist No. 10, discuss the need to control the “violence of faction” through a well-constructed union, which implies a system where regulations could be used to balance power among different states and prevent one faction from dominating others. This suggests a nuanced approach to regulations, where they serve to maintain a balance rather than to exert control.
George Washington, as noted in discussions about his views on government, saw the necessity of regulations but was wary of federal overreach. His leadership during the Constitutional Convention and his role as the first President highlight his commitment to a federal system where states had significant autonomy, suggesting that regulations should be judiciously applied at the national level.
General Attitudes: The Founding Fathers were generally cautious about excessive regulation, fearing it could lead to tyranny or infringe upon individual liberties. However, they recognized the need for some form of regulation to ensure order and the proper functioning of government. This duality is reflected in the Constitution itself, which includes provisions for federal powers over commerce (Article I, Section 8) while also reserving many rights to the states through the Tenth Amendment.
Trump is legitimately about to buy Greenland, liberate Canada, reclaim the Panama Canal, and rename the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America”.
The Northwest Ordinance of 1787: One of the clearest signs of an expansionist vision is the Northwest Ordinance, passed under the Articles of Confederation but reaffirmed under the Constitution. This ordinance established a process for admitting new states into the Union from the territories northwest of the Ohio River. It laid out principles for governance, the prohibition of slavery in those territories, and the method by which territories could become states, which clearly anticipated westward expansion.
Jefferson was particularly vocal about expansion. He drafted the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom but also played a key role in the Louisiana Purchase of 1803, which doubled the size of the country. His vision was not just territorial but also ideological, hoping the expansion would spread democratic values and provide land for future generations.
Alexander Hamilton: Hamilton was more focused on economic development and strengthening the federal government, but he did not oppose expansion if it served those ends. He was involved in discussions about military and commercial strategies that would benefit from a larger, more secure nation.
Washington, in his Farewell Address, didn’t explicitly advocate for expansion but stressed the importance of national unity and warned against sectionalism, which indirectly supported the idea that the nation should grow together as one. His leadership during the Whiskey Rebellion also showed an understanding that national policy would need to extend over new lands.
James Madison In Federalist No. 43, Madison discusses the process by which new states could be admitted, indicating a belief in the growth of the Union. However, he was also cautious about how expansion should be managed to prevent it from weakening the Union’s bonds.
Manifest Destiny: While not a phrase used by the Founding Fathers, the concept of Manifest Destiny, which emerged in the 19th century, can be seen as an extension of the expansionist ethos they began. The idea that the U.S. was destined to expand across the continent was rooted in the philosophies and actions of the early leaders who set precedents for territorial acquisition and growth.
Philosophical Considerations: The expansion was seen not just as a land grab but as a way to spread the revolutionary ideals of liberty, democracy, and republicanism. There was also an economic and strategic rationale, with new lands offering resources, trade routes, and buffers against foreign powers.
