    Kamala Harris unveils economic plan — including a whopping $1.7T in handouts, fed ban on grocery store ‘price gouging’

  •  Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday unveiled the economic policies she would enact in her first 100 days in office — and it comes with a whopping estimated $1.7 trillion in handouts, as well as government price controls on groceries amid ravaging Biden-Harris administration inflation.
  • Her economic plan includes measures to dole out $25,000 to help first-time homeowners with their down payments and give up to a $6,000 tax breaks for lower and middle-income families who have a child in their first year of life. Harris did not say what incomes qualify as “lower” and “middle.”
  • The housing subsidies alone are “absolutely inflationary” and would “push a $2 trillion dollar deficit even higher,” Brian Riedl, a senior economic fellow at the Manhattan Institute, told The Post, referrring to the already projected budget shortfall for 2024. Those subsidies make up just $200 billion of the total $1.7 trillion handouts pledged to voters.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that the Harris-Walz campaign has been editing headlines from various publications, and then using those edited headlines in paid Google ads. Such a move has not gone unnoticed by House Republicans.
  •  Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX) penned a letter to Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet, Google’s parent company.

  • Protest organizers in Chicago expect between 30,000 and 40,000 people to join Monday’s march on the Democratic National Convention, and are asking the city for a permit that would get them closer to the event itself.
  • “We’re going to march regardless, but we’re fighting for the best route possible,” said Faayani Aboma Mijana, a spokesperson for the March on the DNC coalition. “We’ve got our park permit, but the City has refused to allow us to use port-a-potties, a stage, and a sound system.”
  • The coalition, composed of more than 150 pro-Palestinian, anti-war, and left-wing organizations, has been planning its direct actions for months. It organized a smaller protest outside last month’s Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, with fewer than 1,000 people rallying in a park and marching outside the event’s perimeter — a fraction of the number of police who came from out of state to protect the convention, delegates, and guests.

    A possible October surprise? Biden resigns and Harris becomes president

  • So imagine it’s a couple weeks after the Democratic National Convention, and the Harris glow is starting to wear off. The vibes campaign could only last so long before reality set in. Trump and Harris are neck-and-neck, and Trump is trending in several key swing states.
  • “I have no reason to think President Biden will step down, unless he has absolutely no choice,” Mark Halperin, editor-in-chief and host of 2WAY, told me. “He wants to run through the tape. Well, at least, walk purposefully if haltingly through the tape.”
  • So perhaps Biden is convinced to exit the White House with the promise of a long, ceremonial celebration of his life and career on the way out. He could announce he’s resigning Sept. 1 to bury it before the Labor Day weekend, or on Sept. 13 to bury it after the ABC debate. He could give “two weeks’ notice” and get the long runway of puff pieces and retirement pageantry.
  • A Biden exit in September or October would be particularly useful as a distraction from the race. The establishment media would get sidetracked with the Biden resignation, as well as the next phase — the introduction of President Kamala Harris. The history associated with the first female president, plus the bevy of stories about what it even means to have this massive transition, would allow for weeks of relatively substance-free coverage.

  • Painting a grim portrait if Donald Trump is re-elected, the New York Times is reporting there is every reason to believe the former president will make use of the Insurrection Act to deploy the U.S. military against American citizens during protests he finds objectionable.
  • In a deep dive from the Times’ Maggie Haberman, Jonathan Swan and Charlie Savage, they write that close associates of the former president have been hard at work bolstering their case that the newly elected president can trample civil liberties without regard for the Posse Comitatus Act that “generally makes it a crime to use regular federal troops for domestic policing purposes.”
