Trump Admin Orders Halt To Offshore Wind Project Near New York

Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum said on April 16 that he had ordered a halt to the construction of a major wind project off the coast of New York “until further review.”

Burgum, posting to the social platform X on Wednesday, said he had consulted with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to direct the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management to “halt all construction activities” on Equinor’s Empire Wind project. The Biden administration approved the project in 2023, with construction beginning last year.

The interior secretary accused the former administration of “rush[ing] through its approval without sufficient analysis.” He did not provide further details on potential faults identified.

“On day one, [President Donald Trump] called for comprehensive reviews of federal wind projects and wind leasing, and at Interior, we are doing our part to make sure these instructions are followed,” Burgum wrote in a follow-up post.

In response to the pause, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said the project had already generated roughly 1,000 “good-paying union jobs” and is contributing to the state’s economy.

“This fully federally permitted project has already put shovels in the ground before the President’s executive orders—it’s exactly the type of bipartisan energy solution we should be working on,” Hochul wrote in a statement.

“As Governor, I will not allow this federal overreach to stand. I will fight this every step of the way to protect union jobs, affordable energy, and New York’s economic future.”

According to the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, offshore wind farms “can be damaging to fish and other marine species” due to the noise and vibration from both the construction and operation of the wind turbines. Disturbing the sea floor during construction can also “affect plankton in the water column.”

According to Apollo, foreigners own a massive $18.5 trillion of US stocks, or 20% of the total US equity market. Moreover, foreign holdings of US Treasuries are at $7.2 trillion, or 30% of the total. Investors from abroad also hold 30% of the total corporate credit market, for a total of $4.6 trillion. Foreign investors want out amid the volatility.

IMF issues global economy warning

The global economy is expected to grow more slowly this year and face higher inflation, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said, citing global trade disruptions and rising “protectionism.”

Sweeping tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump, which he says are focused on prioritizing domestic manufacturing and renegotiating trade deals in favor of the US, have caused a sharp rift with trade partners, including the European Union and China.

Financial volatility is rising sharply and “costly” trade policy uncertainty “is literally off the charts,” Georgieva said, referencing IMF data that showed a steep rise in global unpredictability. She added that the US effective tariff rate has surged to levels “last seen several lifetimes ago.”

‘Drill Baby Drill’ One Step Closer To Reality As ‘Emergency’ Pipeline Tunnel Permit Pends

The Army Corps of Engineers announced an accelerated review of a Michigan pipeline tunnel under the Straits of Mackinac following President Donald Trump’s declaration of a “national energy emergency” on day one of his second term.

Enbridge’s Line 5 oil pipeline is among 600 projects to receive an emergency designation following Trump’s January executive order declaring a national energy emergency and expediting reviews of pending energy projects. The action instructed the Army Corps to use emergency authority under the Clean Water Act to speed up pipeline construction.

“An energy supply situation which would result in an unacceptable hazard to life, a significant loss of property, or an immediate, unforeseen, and significant economic hardship,” if not acted upon quickly, the public notice reads.

“If I want him out, he’ll be out of there real fast, believe me,” Trump said. He followed that up by saying, “I’m not happy with him.” Trump’s statement comes as the president ramps up pressure on Powell to cut short-term interest rates.

Trump leads with an unreasonably high opening offer, and then he pulls back and comes to a more reasonable position, to make it appear that he has made concessions and that the opponent has gained something from the negotiations.

When in reality, Trump got exactly what he wanted all along, if not more, while appearing to have compromised, because he started negotiations from the most extreme of the spectrum.

Imagine you’re trying to sell a hypothetical house. You would be okay with selling it for $500k. But do you list it at $500k? No. You list it at $750k, then when someone asks you to drop the price, you drop it to $600k, and they feel like they’ve got a deal, and you’ve actually made more than you were expecting. Aka, highballing.

Trump is billionaire real-estate mogul from New York City. He has been doing hardball tactics his entire life.

Trump does the same exact thing as POTUS, just on a far more extreme and larger scale.

Newsom is asking the federal government for $40 billion in wildfire relief aid, and had to borrow over $6 billion just to fund California’s version of Medicaid, Medi-Cal, this month. But he also recently signed $50 million in spending into law to fund lawsuits against the Trump administration’s national policies, and to provide legal services to illegal aliens whom the Trump administration has determined it would deport.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) finally did get to see the illegal alien and alleged MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia, for whom he took his grandstanding tour to El Salvador to see and bring “home.” It was a bizarre set of optics.

But it was as a result of 4D chess move by El Salvador’s President Nayib Buklele, who decided that he could blow up the Democratic narrative showing Abrego Garcia was fine and get that damning picture of Van Hollen sipping drinks with him at the same time. Meanwhile, he definitely said he wasn’t letting Abrego Garcia out of custody. He also posted how he loved to play chess, if the point wasn’t clear enough.

Van Hollen and the Democrats didn’t consider how such a picture, with all the information that has now come out on Abrego Garcia, would play with Americans. Now they are going to own it, big time, and it’s likely to play around the clock during the midterms as a sign of how clueless the Democrats are.

There appears to be no apparent motive behind a shooting Thursday at Florida State University or connections between the victims and the alleged shooter

“This practice suggests a mental illness, and it is not the first suggestion of mental illness in the shooter,” the Florida Republican said during an appearance on “Wake Up America,” declining to commit further on that possibility, “because I think it’s unfair.”

The alleged shooter has been identified as Phoenix Ikner, 20. Initially, he was identified as the son of Jessica Ikner, an 18-year veteran deputy of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, but court documents indicate the deputy is his stepmother, not his biological mother, reports ABC News.

Phoenix Ikner was shot and wounded by police. Officials said he had used Jessica Ikner’s former service weapon in the shootings, which killed two and injured six.

Trump Stands Strong in Protecting Second Amendment After FSU Tragedy: ‘The Gun Doesn’t Do the Shooting’

President Trump responded to a reporter pressuring him on new gun laws in the wake of the deadly shooting at Florida State University by reaffirming his commitment to the Second Amendment.

In the process, the President pointed out that guns are not scary inanimate objects that fire on their own accord.

“Mr. President, there are now two deceased following that shooting at Florida State University,” a reporter confronted. “Is there any changes you want to see to gun legislation? Anything you see broken with gun laws in our country?”

Trump did not waver on his staunch support of Second Amendment rights in America. Where many might cower, and of course, Democrats immediately pounce post-tragedy, the President resolved to continue supporting the right to bear arms.

Rubio, Witkoff and Kellogg Meet with French President Macron, Ukraine and UK Delegation to Discuss Outline of Ceasefire

There is a ton of geopolitical influences happening in the background and foreground of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, President Trump voice and envoy Steve Witkoff, and Keith Kellogg meeting in Paris with delegations from France, U.K, Ukraine and EU stakeholders. The intent is to get the EU/UK on board with a ceasefire plan.

French President Emmanuel Macron (seeking a distraction from his own internal political turmoil) has appointed himself as representative for EU interests in the peace negotiations. No one in the EU wants to hear Macron keep whining, so they just roll with it. Macron even bought new lifts for the occasion.

The UK comes into the picture in Paris because France and the UK have decided to lead the coerced EU “coalition of the willing” (not many are willing) to create the boots on the ground peacekeepers if there is going to be a ceasefire. REMINDER: Macron and Starmer demand the U.S. backstop their proposed Ukraine peacekeeping with USA military power.

The end result is going to be what Trump (through Witkoff) and Putin have already outlined. Russia will keep eastern Ukraine, NATO will pledge to stop influencing Ukraine and the EU will give Ukraine membership.
