A majority of Americans believe the minimum wage – currently $7.25 an hour – should be raised to at least $10.50, but are divided over whether a minimum wage increase would help the economy.
San Francisco Federal Reserve President Mary Daly said on Friday there is still “a lot of work to do” to make sure inflation is on track to the Fed's 2% goal, and there is “absolutely” no urgency to cut rates.
“Policy's in a good place right now, and I need to be fully confident that inflation is on track to come down to 2%, which is our definition of price stability, before we would consider a rate cut,” Daly said at an event at the regional Fed bank.

The analysis, carried out by an FBI chemist, authenticated that the residue found was indeed cocaine. This alarming find was part of a broader court filing that was intended to bolster the case against Hunter Biden.
These charges include one count of making a false statement in the purchase of a firearm, one count of making a false statement related to information required to be kept by a federal firearms licensed dealer, and one count of possession of a firearm by a person who is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.
President Joe Biden wanted to ban gas stoves but ultimately backed down due to backlash. Now we know his administration tries to rewrite history by pressuring “fact checkers.”
According to emails acquired by the watchdog group Functional Government Initiative, the Consumer Product Safety Commission pressured fact-checking site Snopes to change its rating on the claim that it was considering banning gas stoves. As has been covered before, Biden appointee Richard Trumka Jr., one of just four members (at the time), was pushing heavily for a ban, and the agency released a plan to target half of gas stoves on the market in February 2023.
The initial claim that the CPSC was considering a ban was rated as a “mixture” of truth and falsehood by Snopes. One day later, Snopes changed the claim to just “false” despite the evidence to the contrary.
Snopes says it wasn’t pressured. But Snopes also has a long track record of liberal bias, from protecting the architect of the Affordable Care Act (also known as Obamacare) to warring against right-wing satire sites. And even if you believe Snopes did not change its rating due to pressure (which you shouldn’t), that does not change the fact that the CPSC did pressure Snopes despite knowing that it was considering gas stove bans and that the Biden administration was happy with this move and called it “helpful.”
Representative Anna Paulina Luna has called for a rare procedural move to delay the Senate’s consideration of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Section 702 extension, pushing for a new vote in the House of Representatives.
This move comes in the wake of the House’s approval of a bill that further empowers the ‘Deep State’ by allowing it to surveil Americans without a warrant.

A new U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study does not disprove a link between COVID-19 vaccines and sudden deaths among young people, contrary to claims.
The study, published by the CDC’s quasi-journal on April 11, analyzed death certificates from Oregon for people aged 16 to 30 who died between June 2021 and December 2022.
Among people who died with evidence of vaccination, three died within 100 days of a shot, Drs. Juventila Liko and Paul Cieslak with the Oregon Health Authority found.
The authors failed to note that a much larger, peer-reviewed study from South Korea confirmed vaccine-induced myocarditis caused eight sudden cardiac deaths (SCDs), all among people younger than 45. Myocarditis is a form of heart inflammation.
The new study “is at odds with a higher quality and peer-reviewed journal article published in the European Heart Journal,” Dr. David McCune, who was not involved with either paper, told The Epoch Times via email. “The study, from Korea, found a small but significant group of patients who had SCD and autopsy evidence consistent with vaccine-induced myocarditis.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), alongside former President Donald Trump, announced the introduction of legislation aimed at tightening the requirements for voter registration in federal elections.
In an attempt to save his career, Speaker Johnson emphasized the critical importance of upholding election integrity, citing concerns over non-citizens influencing election outcomes due to the “open border catastrophe.”
“States are currently prohibited from asking someone to prove they’re a citizen,” Speaker Johnson said.
He highlighted the ease with which individuals can register to vote while applying for a driver’s license under the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, commonly known as the “motor voter law.”
“If an individual only asserts or simply states that they are a citizen, they don’t have to prove it. They can register that person to vote in a federal election. You see, states are currently prohibited,” Johnson said.
Johnson announced, “Our bill will require that every single person who registers the vote in a federal election must prove that they’re an American citizen first. You have to prove it. That will be a new part of the federal law and a very important one.”
“Our bill also requires states to remove non-citizens from their existing voter rolls. That’s a big problem, too. And it will provide access to databases from the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration to help the states administer this.”
