Dennis Kucinich Challenges GOP Congressional Opponent To ZeroHedge Debate Over Israel, Warrantless Spying

Former Democrat Rep. Dennis Kucinich (Ohio) is running for Congress again as an independent, and has publicly challenged his incumbent opponent, Republican Rep. Max Miller, to a ZeroHedge debate

"I believe it is essential that you be challenged on your record, Congressman Miller," Kucinich wrote in an open letter. "Your votes in favor of the $1.2 trillion omnibus bill, the FISA warrantless spying extension that erodes our freedom of privacy, and foreign aid to Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan, among other issues, demand scrutiny and explanation."

"I am prepared to accept the offer of the news platform, Zero Hedge, as a neutral forum to host the first debate, providing an important opportunity for us to engage in a meaningful discussion about the future of our nation," the letter continues.

Recent legislation introduced by Miller includes a resolution to condemn the Biden administration's decision last month to pause arms transfers to Israel, as well as a bill that would extend various benefits to American citizens serving in the Israeli Defense Forces. He also introduced a bill that would promote 'workforce development' (trade schools), which would provide high school graduates with a $9,000 education voucher paid for "in part by taxes on wealthy private college endowments."

Kucinich, meanwhile, is an anti-interventionist who ran for president in 2004 as a staunch opponent of the Iraq War - introducing 35 articles of impeachment against former President George Bush, and later criticizing former President Barack Obama following the 2011 military intervention in Libya.

ZeroHedge extended invitations to both candidates, with Miller's staff confirming receipt.

The debate will cover foreign policy, as well as a range of other political topics from immigration to the economy.

We await Miller's response.

Dear Congressman Miller,

As our nation teeters on the brink of crisis, it is imperative that we, as elected representatives, take a moment to reflect on the gravity of our current situation. Rampant inflation is eroding the purchasing power of our citizens, constitutional freedoms are being systematically undermined, and our national debt has ballooned to a staggering $34 trillion. Furthermore, the escalating wars in the Middle East and Europe threaten to plunge us into the abyss of World War 3. In this critical moment in our nation's history, it is our duty to engage in open and honest discourse about the path forward.

In times like these, the importance of debate cannot be overstated. The stakes have never been higher, and it is our responsibility to educate voters on their options. By engaging in a public debate, we can provide the people of the 7th district of Ohio with a clear understanding of our positions on the issues that matter most. It is only through this kind of transparency and accountability that we can ensure our constituents are making informed decisions at the ballot box.

I believe it is essential that you be challenged on your record, Congressman Miller. Your votes in favor of the $1.2 trillion omnibus bill, the FISA warrantless spying extension that erodes our freedom of privacy, and foreign aid to Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan, among other issues, demand scrutiny and explanation.

I am prepared to accept the offer of the news platform, Zero Hedge, as a neutral forum to host the first debate, providing an important opportunity for us to engage in a meaningful discussion about the future of our nation.

The people of the 7th district of Ohio deserve to know where their representative in the People's House stands on these critical issues.

In this time of great distress in our nation, anyone deserving to represent the People  at this time should be willing to defend their position in open debate. I urge you to accept this challenge and join me in a series of a public debates, where we can present our visions for the future and allow the people to decide. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Dennis Kucinich
