One of the keys to MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN has always been a shift away from the ineffective fixation on ‘wokeism’ and the DEI policies of the Biden era.
And one key pillar of American strength that has suffered under the unnecessary weight of those social agendas is the U.S. Military.
There were rumblings of potentially mutinous leadership from within the Pentagon and across multiple military leadership positions immediately following President Trump’s victory last November.
One specific instance reportedly included an ‘all hands’ meeting held by then Navy Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield, during which she directed her pro-DEI cohorts to wait out the Trump Administration’s planned purge of the woke nonsense.
She even reportedly refused an order to hang photos of the President and Secretary of Defense in NATO HQ, where she served as part of the U.S. NATO Command.
But Shoshana Chatfield’s multiple cases of insubordination has led the Trump Administration to make good on their march towards a strong military primarily fixated — once again — on the ability to FIGHT EFFECTIVELY.
And Chatfield, who has insisted on standing in the way of that effort, has now been fired and relieved of her leadership position within U.S. NATO Command:

Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell also corroborated the news of Chatfield’s removal from her spot as the U.S. representative to the military committee of NATO.
Parnell, per norms, cited the official language usually used in such dismissals, calling it a “loss of confidence”:
Secretary Hegseth has removed U.S. Navy Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield from her position as U.S. representative to NATO’s military committee due to a loss of confidence in her ability to lead. The Defense Department is grateful for her many years of military service.

But the nature of Chatfield’s DEI-obsession and fixation on the ‘woke’ ideology definitely served as the catalyst for her firing.
President Trump and Pete Hegseth haven’t been unclear that their intention for the military is to rid it completely of anything that would detract from America’s fighting force regaining lethality lost in recent years.
And neither have been unclear about the role DEI-hiring and policy practices have played in the weakening of America’s armed forces.
Chatfield was included on a list compiled by a conservative research group which highlighted officers and senior leadership it suggested were more focused on DEI initiatives than the singular mission of warfighting, according to Fox News:
The Trump administration has sacked a senior NATO official who was recommended by a conservative research group to be fired as part of a broader effort to purge wokeness from the Pentagon.
Chatfield reportedly got a call from Adm. Christopher Grady, the acting chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and was told the administration wanted to go in a different direction with the job, according to the Associated Press, citing officials. The officials said they believe the decision was made last week by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, but it was unclear whether he received any direction from President Donald Trump. Reuters was first to report on her termination.
Trump and Hegseth have been vocal in their insistence that so-called woke policies are dead and have vigorously sought to remove leaders who promoted diversity, equity and inclusion and to erase DEI programs and online content. The U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, is ditching almost 400 books from its library with DEI content.
In December, the American Accountability Foundation (AAF), a conservative research group, sent a letter to Hegseth with a list of 20 general officers or senior admirals whom it said were excessively focused on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and other similar left-wing initiatives. AAF wrote that focusing on such policies is an impediment to national security and Chatfield was one of eight women who made the list.
Chatfield made the list due in part to a 2015 speech where she bemoaned that lawmakers in the House of Representatives at the time were 80% males, proclaiming that “our diversity is our strength.” The group said she also quoted a slide from a presentation by the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute highlighting “Investing in gender equality and women’s empowerment can unlock human potential on a transformational scale.”
Besides complaining that there were too many men in Congress in a speech at a Women’s Equality event (even though she correctly pointed out that every American has the right to cast a vote carrying equal weight)…
She also openly pushed DEI policies as being critical to the ‘strength’ of the U.S. military.
That intentional pushback against the intent of SecDef Hegseth to turn that ridiculous belief on its head was the likely final straw that led to her firing.
Here’s Hegseth clearly pointing out why ‘diversity is our strength’ is DUMB:

If Chatfield really wanted to ‘wait out’ the Trump Administration…
She might have come up with a better plan to do so than openly defying the Secretary of Defense and Commander in Chief in the meantime.

As you might expect, the mainstream media is losing their collective minds over Chatfield’s firing, due to their own fixation on DEI initiatives.
Check out this report by CBS, and you would almost suspect that the warnings of Democrats about President Trump’s plans to TEAR UP the U.S. Constitution could be true!
That is, if you believe or trust CBS reporting — which I certainly do not:
DEI Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield fired!
In addition to her inappropriate wokeness, she was also guilty of insubordination by refusing to put up portraits of President Trump and Defense Secretary Hegseth at NATO.

Maybe a good counter to that CBS report would be to hear Shoshana Chatfield’s own words.
Here she is advancing those exact DEI ‘woke’ agendas from the U.S. Naval War College, which she presided over as President from 2019 until her appointment to the NATO Command in 2023:

Nearly three months into President Trump’s current term, and it seems as though those who have become comfortable pushing these ideologies haven’t received the memo that things are changing.
The era of entitlement-based hiring over merit is over, particularly in the U.S. military.
Many Democrats are pointing to Chatfield’s previous career as a helicopter pilot and her command of multiple units, as if that satisfies the need to be qualified on merit.
The problem with that argument is that she wasn’t elevated to the position she was just fired from based on her piloting skills, or even to lead a direct-action combat unit.
She was hired to a LEADERSHIP position which includes advising the military committee of NATO on strategic nuclear and security issues — but instead issues threats against her Commander in Chief.
And she has continued to push that ‘woke’ ideology from her leadership position in open defiance of the SecDef’s stated intent.
Under Biden, ‘diversity’ was in fact considered to be the source of our military strength.
But that hogwash has been set aside, in exchange for true strength; lethality and the discipline to crush America’s enemies with skilled military might.
Chatfield’s approach has never changed, and her rebellion against her own Commander in Chief only seemed to increase since President Trump was sworn in to office.
She put herself in the crosshairs to be fired by refusing to adjust her leadership focus to match the COMMANDER’S INTENT of her superior leadership.
Her own record proves out her fixation on the DEI policies that are now being set aside in favor of skilled warfighting, according to a report in Newsweek:
The firing of Vice Admiral Chatfield highlights an escalating effort within the Trump Administration to reverse military policies promoting diversity.
The firing appears to be part of a broader effort led by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to dismantle what he and other administration figures have labeled “woke” policies.
Chatfield’s public record includes support for diversity efforts that critics say put her in the crosshairs. Her name was listed in a recent letter sent by the conservative American Accountability Foundation to Hegseth calling for the removal of officials defined as “woke.”
The letter cited her speech during a 2015 Women’s Equality Day event, in which she said: “Investing in empowering women can unlock human potential.” It also cited her use of the phrase “our diversity is our strength,” a sentiment that Hegseth has publicly derided in recent statements.
“Is this someone who should be leading our men and women into battle?” the foundation asked.
The American Accountability Foundation said in its letter that military leadership must “focus on cultivating lethality,” and accused leaders like Chatfield of diverting focus with DEI efforts. The letter demanded that those responsible for diversity policies “must be dismissed.”
It is one thing to say the DEI initiatives are finished — but the thing actually has to be done.
Someone actually has to do the work of finding the ‘woke’ material, haul it out of our military colleges, and get rid of it.
This is no different.
The firing of Shoshana Chatfield is simply the follow through on campaign promises made, now being kept.
You can’t just say the era of focusing on social agendas is over within the United States military… you actually have to get rid of those pushing the agenda.
That’s what this is — promise made, and promise kept.
And good riddance.
What do you think?
