As President Donald Trump’s preferred tax cut and spending bill faces an uncertain path through the Senate, a number of sources have spoken up in recent days to support the “One Big, Beautiful Bill.”
During a roundtable discussion this week, Trump invited the Fraternal Order of Police to discuss a range of relevant issues.
And some of the organization’s top representatives followed up with an enthusiastic endorsement of the proposed legislation.
According to Breitbart, there’s one aspect of the bill that has been particularly popular among the nation’s cops:
Americans might view overtime as a luxury, but John Hoyt, National 2nd Vice President of the Fraternal Order of Police, said that officers view it as a necessity.
ADVERTISEMENT“Overtime is not a luxury for us. It’s a necessity. And if there’s no tax on overtime, it will reinforce this country’s belief in law enforcement and make the officers feel more supported and help ease the financial burden of their everyday life,” said Hoyt.
Rick Snyder, President for Indiana Fraternal Order of Police, agreed that no tax on overtime would help “families who are critically dependent on that income.”
“The quality of life that we have in every community in this country is directly related to the services that we provide law enforcement,” concluded Patrick Yoes, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police.

And Trump thanked the union personally during the recent White House event:

The latest remarks came just days after the FOP signaled a similar level of support among rank-and-file officers:
“A huge advantage to law enforcement across the country.”

Late last month, Fox News columnist David Marcus pointed out that the bill’s no-tax-on-tips provision could also help secure a GOP victory in next year’s midterm elections:
This brings us around to the midterms. If by the fall of 2026, American workers have been keeping more of their money, not receiving largesse from the state, but keeping more money they worked for, then every GOP candidate will point at every Democrat incumbent in Congress and say, “they voted against it.”
One of Donald Trump’s political superpowers is to find the issues American voters deeply care about that the media largely ignores. He did it by fighting wokeness, he did it opposing foreign interventionism, he did it by focusing on our kids’ health.
ADVERTISEMENTI don’t know how he does it. I know how I do it. I spend hours and hours traveling and talking to people. Maybe Trump talks to the working-class people he employs, maybe he just judges based on crowd reactions at rallies, but however he does it, finger meets pulse.
With no tax on overtime, Trump has done it again. Every Republican who is running for Congress outside of Silicon Valley and the Upper East Side would be wise to lead their campaign with, “President Trump and I promised no tax on overtime and we delivered.”
