JD Vance & RFK Jr. Announce Investigation Into Long-Term Health Effects Of East Palestine Train Derailment

The people of East Palestine, OH are finally getting the care they need after the 2023 train derailment full of toxic chemicals that poisoned them.

Vice President JD Vance and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. just announced an investigation into the long-term health effects residents of East Palestine are suffering.

RFK Jr. shared this statement:

The Center Square has more details on the investigation:

The federal government plans to spend $10 million in taxpayer funds on a five-year study on the health impact from the 2023 train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.

The money and the study came at the urging of Vice President J.D. Vance, who worked with former U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown on train safety and other East Palestine legislation in the months and years following the derailment and subsequent toxic chemical release.

“As a senator, it was incredibly frustrating watching the Biden administration refuse to examine the potentially dangerous health impacts on the people of East Palestine following the train derailment,” Vance said. “I’m proud that we finally have a new president that takes the concerns of everyday, working-class people seriously. This historic research initiative will finally result in answers that this community deserves.”

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. said the National Institutes of Health will conduct the study.

“Vice President Vance, thank you for your persistence on this issue,” Kennedy said. “You helped drive the first large-scale, coordinated, multi-year federal study dedicated to the long-term health effects of the East Palestine, Ohio, disaster. The people of East Palestine have a right to clear, science-backed answers about the impact on their health.”

Since the train derailment two years ago, JD Vance has continually advocated for the people of East Palestine.

As Senator, he received a lot of pushback from the Biden administration who tried to push it all under the rug and simply abandoned the town and its people.

JD Vance personally showed some of the horrific effects of the toxic spill, like this contaminated creek:

Since the train derailment happened, residents of East Palestine have complained about a variety of adverse health effects, including respiratory issues, headaches, and skin/eye irritations.

It turns out that the ‘controlled burn’ officials signed off on released vinyl chloride into the air — and, in the end, it wasn’t necessary at all.

Per The Daily Wire via AOL:

A Norfolk Southern freight train derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, on Feb. 3, 2023, triggering a fire and evacuation. The train was reportedly transporting hazardous materials such as vinyl chloride, butyl acrylate, ethylene glycol and benzine residue.

Following the derailment, authorities conducted a controlled burn of the toxic vinyl chloride, releasing it into the air to avoid what they warned would be a catastrophic explosion.

Then-National Transportation Safety Bureau (NTSB) Chairwoman later admitted that the burn was unnecessary during an exchange with then-Senator JD Vance in a March 2024 Senate testimony.

NTSB officials said the firm operating the train and contractors failed to notify authorities on the ground that the vinyl chloride’s producer and shipper said venting and burning the substance was not required, USA Today reported.

“It was stabilized well, well before the vent and burn,” she told Vance. “Many hours before.”

“This town very well may have been poisoned to facilitate the rapid movement of freight, or at the very least, it was poisoned for reasons that we can’t identify,” Vance responded.

One year after the crash, three East Palestine residents claimed many still couldn’t drink the town’s tap water due to chemical contamination. It’s time for answers, and we’re going to get them.

Exposure to vinyl chloride is linked to many serious health effects, especially in the long-term.

Grok detailed:

Vinyl chloride exposure is linked to several serious health effects:
  • Acute Exposure: Inhaling high levels can cause dizziness, headaches, nausea, and irritation of the eyes and respiratory tract. Extremely high exposure may lead to loss of consciousness or death.
  • Chronic Exposure: Long-term exposure, especially through inhalation, is associated with:
  • Liver Damage: Increased risk of liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma) and non-cancerous liver diseases like fibrosis and cirrhosis.
  • Neurological Effects: Numbness, fatigue, and memory issues.
  • Respiratory Issues: Chronic bronchitis and lung irritation.
  • Circulatory Problems: Raynaud’s syndrome (reduced blood flow to extremities).
  • Bone and Joint Effects: Bone resorption and joint pain.
  • Carcinogenicity: Vinyl chloride is classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), with strong evidence linking it to liver cancer and potential links to brain and lung cancers.
  • Reproductive and Developmental Effects: Limited evidence suggests possible reproductive issues, such as reduced fertility, and developmental effects in offspring of exposed workers.
  • It’s terrible what the Biden administration did to these people.

Now, through this investigation, JD Vance and RFK Jr. are finally bringing both answers and help to the people of East Palestine.

Next, we need to see those who covered it all up be held accountable…

    It’s time for justice.
