The New York Post reported on this amazing night:

President Donald Trump was hailed with massive cheers in Philadelphia Saturday, as he attended the NCAA Men’s Division I Wrestling Championship.

The crowd rose to its feet and heartily applauded Trump as he entered the Wells Fargo Arena and stood on the event floor for about a minute waving to the onlookers.

Broadcaster ESPN even interrupted an interview with national champion Carter Starocci to cut to the president’s grand entrance.

As Trump took his seat the crowd chanted “U-S-A, U-S-A.”

Later, Starocci would visit with President Trump, shaking his hand and posing for photos with his freshly awarded championship trophy.

Trump’s press secretary Karoline Leavitt then posted a picture on X of Trump giving Starocci a good-natured wrestling embrace in the arena under the header “Coolest. President. Ever.”

Trump was accompanied by DOGE chief Elon Musk and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).

Jordan won the NCAA Division I men’s wrestling title twice as a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and later served as an assistant wrestling coach for Ohio State University.

Two of the sport’s biggest stars were thrilled the president would be in attendance for their final match.

Fox News added:

President Donald Trump attended the final rounds of the 2024-25 NCAA wrestling championships in Philadelphia on Saturday.

Trump walked into the Wells Fargo Center and was greeted by a raucous crowd from the wrestling fans, who cheered “USA! USA!” amid the president’s presence. A few fans booed when Trump walked in.

Trump shook hands and took pictures with multiple wrestlers after they won title bouts.

Elon Musk, OutKick founder Clay Travis, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Education Secretary and former WWE executive Linda McMahon, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, Sen. Dave McCormick, R-Pa., and several other Trump allies attended the event as well.

For the president, it marked another stop on his tour of major sporting events in what has been a sports-focused presidency.

“We’re going to the big fight. … They have the NCAA, world, wrestling for college. And I’ve always supported the wrestlers,” Trump told reporters outside the White House Friday. “So, I want to support them. These are the great college wrestlers from the various schools. I think Penn State is leading, and Nebraska is in second place right now. And a lot of good things.”
