President Trump Endorses Lindsey Graham for Fifth Term — But, Why?

President Trump just gave Sen. Lindsey Graham a glowing endorsement for his fifth term in 2026.

In his endorsement on Truth Social, President Trump referred to Sen. Graham as “a wonderful friend to me” who will “not let you down.”

Per The Washington Examiner:

President Donald Trump backed Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) in his pursuit of a fifth Senate term in 2026.

Trump announced his support in a Truth Social post on Wednesday night.

“Senator Lindsey Graham is working incredibly hard for the Great People of South Carolina, a State I love and WON BIG in 2016, 2020, and 2024!” Trump said.

“Lindsey has been a wonderful friend to me, and has always been there when I needed him…Senator Lindsey Graham has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election — HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN. Everyone in South Carolina should help Lindsey have a BIG WIN next year!”

Trump’s endorsement likely all but locks up the Republican nomination in South Carolina for Graham, who is facing rumored challenges from firebrand Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) and Rep. and Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC).

Graham already has the endorsement of Gov. Henry McMaster (R-SC) and fellow Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC).

He’s unlikely to lose in the general election either. He won his previous four terms by at least 10 points, topping former Democratic National Committee chairman Jaime Harrison in his 2020 bid. The Cook Political Report rates the seat as “Solid Republican.”

Now, I’m behind President Trump 100% but there are times where I disagree with him. And, at first glance at least, this is definitely one of those times.

Lindsey Graham? The same war-mongering backstabber who has gone against President Trump and the will of the American people time and time again?

The Gateway Pundit did a great job breaking down several specific times Lindsey Graham went against President Trump:

  • Called Trump a “race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot” on CNN during the 2016 primaries.

  • Told Americans to “tell Donald Trump to go to hell.”

  • Accused Trump supporters of embracing “demagoguery” and declared, “if we don’t reject Donald Trump, we’ve lost the moral authority … to govern this great nation.”

  • Laughed at the GOP and called it “batsh*t crazy” for rallying around Trump.

  • Mocked Trump’s foreign policy as “gibberish” and said he didn’t have the “temperament or judgment” to be president.

  • Belittled Trump’s attacks on war hero John McCain and accused him of promoting conspiracy theories about Ted Cruz’s father and President Obama.

  • Condemned Trump’s role in the events of January 6th, blaming Trump for “a self-inflicted wound” and stating that “his actions were the problem, not the solution.”

    • TLDR: Graham is as RINO as it gets.

    I’m not the only one questioning this move.
