‘The Numbers Are Way Down’: Even ABC News Admits President Trump’s Border Success

Just over two months into President Donald Trump’s second term, at least some of his major policy priorities are already reaping unequivocal rewards.

One notable example is illegal immigration, which was allowed to flourish under the open-borders policies of Joe Biden.

That surge has slowed to just a trickle since Trump returned to the White House, though, and even mainstream media talking heads can’t ignore the reality.

ABC News host Jonathan Karl acknowledged the statistics during his recent interview of White House border czar Tom Homan, who made it clear that the mission is far from over.

The Daily Wire reported on their recent interview:

“You have now more than 10,000 U.S. troops deployed to support your mission at the border and two Navy destroyers that have been deployed to patrol the waters around the border as well,” he said. “How long do you expect you are going to need that level of force, military force, at the border, because, as you just mentioned, the numbers are way down?”

“I mean they are dramatically down,” he admitted.

Homan responded by highlighting some of the metrics showing just how drastically the numbers have dropped.

“Illegal entry is down 96 percent,” Homan said. “What’s most impressive is known got-a-ways. Known got-aways under Joe Biden were on average 1,800 people a day crossed the border, weren’t apprehended, weren’t processed, weren’t vetted. We don’t know who they are or where they came from. That’s a huge national security issue. Known got-a-ways are down to, you know, double digits now.”

“But we’re not going to be satisfied until that know got-a-way is down to zero,” he continued. “We’re going to secure the border and make sure no public safety threats or national security threats cross the border and get away.”

Homan has proven to be an effective communicator for the Trump White House’s immigration agenda:

Karl’s interview with Homan wasn’t the only reason he was in the news this week.

As Fox News reported, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) nearly stormed off the set in response to a seemingly innocuous line of questioning about the Democratic Party’s leadership:

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., got up during a pre-taped ABC “This Week” interview that aired Sunday, and accused Jonathan Karl of asking a “nonsense” question about whether Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., should run for Senate.

Right after calling Ocasio-Cortez “extraordinary,” Sanders would not answer a question about whether he would like to see her in the Senate. Speculation has ramped up about AOC challenging Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in a primary after Schumer supported a government funding bill to avoid a partial shutdown.

“Right now, we have, as I said, just a whole lot of people in the Congress. OK, Jonathan. Thanks,” Sanders said as he got up from his seat.

Karl told the senator that he had one more question for him.

“Well, I ask you – you know, you want to do nonsense, do nonsense. No, I don’t want to talk about inside the Beltway stuff. I got 32,000 people,” Sanders said, referencing the crowd that gathered Friday in Denver for an event with AOC.
