President Trump has signaled that he is done with Elon Musk.
But that doesn’t mean Elon Musk is done with politics.
In fact, it could be quite the opposite…and, that may not be such a good thing.
During his tweet storm yesterday, Elon Musk threw out a poll asking if it’s time for a new political party in America.
Here’s that post:
Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle?
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 5, 2025
As you can see, around 80% of people voted ‘yes’ in Elon’s poll.
Elon followed up today with this post, calling it “fate”:
The people have spoken. A new political party is needed in America to represent the 80% in the middle!
And exactly 80% of people agree
This is fate. https://t.co/JkeOlG7Kl4

Musk then debuted a potential new name for this third party:

First of all, what Elon fails to realize is that MAGA is the new party for the American people.
With President Trump at the helm, the MAGA movement is all about representing the people over political agendas.
MAGA is a break with the old RINOs who had become synonymous with the Republican party up until we elected President Trump.
But, if President Trump had broken with the Republican name entirely, his chances of winning would have gone to almost zero.
While having a new political party might sound like a good idea in principle, there are so many reasons why it just isn’t smart, in practice.
The New York Post noted:
Third parties have a limited history of success in modern American politics. In the past 100 years, the highest share of the popular vote won by a Democratic or Republican presidential candidate was Ross Perot of the Reform Party — who received 18.9% of ballots cast in 1992 without capturing a single state.
ADVERTISEMENTThe poll was posted soon after Musk and Trump’s once-close relationship imploded, with the men hurling blistering attacks at each other.
Many X users pointed out the problem with third-parties in response to Elon:
The Democrats will have Super Majorities in the House and Senate for decades to come.
Chuck Schumer would have a 24-hour hard-on if you did this— Vince Langman (@LangmanVince) June 6, 2025
Great idea in concept.
But you need more than an idea to launch a viable political party in the US.
Then you need staff, donors, competent people who know what they’re doing, all the associated costs for lawyers, ballot access etc.
This is why it’s better to take over the…

But, I mean, he’s not wrong…
Humor points to truth, after all.
Though Elon Musk has done a lot of good and has a lot of good things to say, it seems increasingly probable that Elon Musk’s idea of an “America Party” is not the same as the vast majority of American people.
If it was, then why wouldn’t he just stick with President Trump and MAGA?
Which brings us back to a theory we floated earlier…
It seems like Elon Musk’s idea of a new political party for “America” might actually be more like a new party for technocrats.
More on that theory here:
The TWO Things No One Is Talking About In The TRUMP vs. ELON Mess
Could it be that Elon and his Big Tech buddies want to establish a new, technocratic political structure in America?
His falling out with Trump and creation of a new "America Party" are just early steps in his scheme?
I'll flat out say it: if that's true, I don't think that 80% of Americans want that.
An America run on AI sounds like a nightmare.
I'll stick with humanity.
