Vice Mayor Of California Town Under FBI Investigation For Allegedly Encouraging Gang Members To Defend Territory Against ICE Agents

Cudahy Vice Mayor Cynthia Gonzalez is reportedly under federal investigation for allegedly calling for local gang members to defend their territory against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

“Per federal sources, the vice mayor of Cudahy, a city in southeast LA County, is under FBI investigation after she allegedly posted a video to social media in which she appears to call for 18th Street & Florencia 13 gang members in LA to defend their territory from ICE, even urging gang leadership to ‘get your f***ing members in order,'” Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin said.

“I’m told Cynthia Gonzalez posted the video late last week, then deleted it, and that the FBI later visited her home & she is under active federal investigation. Gonzalez posted on her social media that the FBI came to her house, and she needs a lawyer. FBI LA tells FOX they cannot confirm or deny an investigation, but that they condemn any call for gang violence,” he continued.

“We’ve reached out to Gonzalez via phone and email & are awaiting a response. No response yet from the city of Cudahy either. Will update as we get more,” he added.

KTLA reports:

The Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL), which represents nearly 9,000 members of the LAPD, is calling for the resignation and possible prosecution of Cudahy Vice-Mayor Cynthia Gonzalez following what they described as a “shameful social media video post.”

The video advocates for local street gangs to confront peace officers, urging leaders of The 18th Street and Florencia street gangs to “get your f***ing members in order,” the LAPPL said in a statement Wednesday.

“The 18th Street and Florencia street gangs are notoriously dangerous Los Angeles-based criminal enterprises,” a portion of the LAPPL’s statement reads. “They rule their ‘turfs’ through intimidation, violence, and murder, and finance their operations through the sale of narcotics and illegal firearms, prostitution, and protection rackets.”

Although the video doesn’t call for any specific violent actions, Gonzalez identifies the two well-known criminal gangs by name for not making a “peep” as their “hood is being invaded.”

“The comments made by the Vice Mayor of Cudahy, CA, Cynthia Gonzalez, are despicable. She calls for criminal gangs – including the vicious 18th street gang—to commit violence against our brave ICE law enforcement,” the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said.

“This kind of garbage has led to a more than 500 percent increase in assaults against our ICE law enforcement officers. Secretary Noem has been clear: If you assault a federal officer, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” it added.

Per FOX 11 Los Angeles:

The controversial video was shared publicly last week and has since been deleted, along with Facebook posts, also allegedly from Gonzalez, obtained by FOX before they were taken down.

In the Facebook comments, Gonzalez allegedly wrote, “I need a lawyer. The FBI just came to my house.” Adding, “It was about a TikTok that I made that went viral. Literally a TikTok.”

In another post Gonzalez allegedly wrote that she, “believes this is a First Amendment rights issue”.

The nearby Mayor of Huntington Park, Arturo Flores, tells FOX 11 he condemns the video.

“She’s a personal friend,” said Mayor Flores. “I know her. I know she wouldn’t call for violence. Words are important. You have to be careful with what you say and how you say it.”

Mayor Flores is currently pushing to have local police work to “identify” immigration agents within the Huntington Park community.

“If a caravan is coming into our community, 4 or 5 vehicles, what I expect is a vetting to happen of who those individuals are,” said Flores.
