Disregarding the Democratic Party’s history of protesting against or canceling public figures for defying the leftist orthodoxy, failed vice presidential nominee Tim Walz is now claiming it’s conservatives who take everything so seriously.
The Minnesota governor, who also recently signaled that he thinks he’s the pinnacle of masculinity, said this week that his brilliant sense of humor is simply too refined for his critics.
Walz’s comments came in response to a poorly received rant he delivered in which he took pleasure in Tesla’s stock price drop amid leftist protests against its owner, Department of Government Efficiency leader Elon Musk.
As Fox News reported:
“This guy bugs me in a way that’s probably unhealthy,” Walz said, referring to Musk. “I have to be careful about being a smarta–. I was making a joke. These people have no sense of humor. They are the most literal people.”
“But my point was, they’re all mad, and I said something I probably shouldn’t have about a company,” he continued.
Earlier in the week, the governor was holding an event in Wisconsin when he mocked Tesla’s falling stock.
“Some of you know this. On the iPhone, they’ve got that little stock app. I added Tesla to it to give me a little boost during the day — $225 and dropping,” Walz said. “And if you own one, we’re not blaming you. You can take dental floss and pull the Tesla thing off.”
As of March, Tesla’s stock is down 41.4% year-to-date.
Musk himself reacted to Walz’s anti-Tesla remarks:
Sometimes when I need a little boost, I look at the @JDVance portrait in the @WhiteHouse and thank the Lord

There was plenty of additional backlash, particularly as new details emerged about the stock downturn’s impact on many of his own constituents:
Kevin O’Leary nails it on multiple points here:
1. Anyone who lights a car on fire should go to jail, no exceptions
2. Tim Walz is a moron because Minnesota’s pension plan is backed by Tesla stock pic.twitter.com/x5bEBgIGov

Tim Walz is like every other democrat.
A domestic terrorist.Whether you like Elon Musk and Tesla or not, targeted attacks are not the answer!

His support of efforts to bring about Tesla’s downfall have only grown more divisive amid dangerous riots targeting the EV owners, dealers, and charging stations associated with the brand.
As The Hill recently reported:
At least three people are facing federal charges so far in connection with separate attacks against Tesla properties. Attorney General Pam Bondi warned the violent protestors that the Justice Department will “put them behind bars” this week.
“The people attacking Teslas are trying to send the message that if you support President Trump, they will commit acts of violence to try to intimidate you,” Vice President Vance said in a Friday post on the social platform X. “Our message to them? Terrorists in this country will be brought to justice.”
It is not clear who is organizing the violent protests, though experts agree they are largely a response to DOGE from a small fringe of the electorate.
“There’s an incredible amount of anger that the richest man in the world has seen fit to not only meddle in the affairs of the federal government but also push people into poverty or at best living check to check because of the abrupt firings,” political strategist Basil Smikle said.
Here’s a clip of his recent attempt to walk back his earlier remarks:
NEW: Tim Walz tries to backtrack from his comment about Tesla stock by labeling it as “humor.” Seriously?
