Qatari journalist Abdallah Alamadi praised the man accused of killing two Israeli Embassy staffers in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, and called for mass attacks targeting Israeli Embassies in Arab countries.
In the post, Alamadi included a photo of the alleged cold-blooded killer, Elias Rodriguez, with an attached report of the killings. He wrote in the post text, "Imagine, where would the Zionists be if there emerged an Egyptian Rodriguez, a Jordanian, an Emirati too, a fourth from Bahrain, and a fifth from Morocco?"
The post was screenshotted by Memri before Alamadi reportedly deleted it.
Additionally, Assaad Taha, an Egyptian journalist who also has a column in Al-Sharq, posted on his X account just hours after the attack, saying, "The world hates you."
Elias Rodriguez, 30, a far-left socialist anti-Israel activist from Chicago, was arrested for allegedly shooting a man and a woman to death on Wednesday night outside the Capitol Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. The victims, identified as Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, were staffers from the Israeli Embassy in the nation's capital and were about to be engaged to be married. Rodriguez was captured yelling "Free Palestine!" in a video of him being taken into custody. He has a history of engaging in leftist ideologies, The Post Millennial reported.
United States officials were quick to condemn the attack, vowing to prosecute the alleged killer to the fullest extent of the law. The Trump administration made it clear that anti-Semitism has no place in the nation. While several Qatari state journalists praised the killing, the Qatari government released an official statement on Thursday condemning the attack. Qatar has been a key mediator in the Israel-Hamas war.
"The state of Qatar condemns and denounces the shooting incident in front of the Jewish museum in Washington that led to the killing of two Israeli embassy employees," the Qatari foreign ministry wrote, offering "condolences" to the families of the victims, the Times of Israel reported.
