Former ABC reporter Terry Moran moves to Substack after departing network

Former ABC News host Terry Moran, who departed the network on Tuesday over a recent inflammatory social media post, announced Wednesday that he has moved to Substack.

The network said it would not renew Moran's contract after he called President Donald Trump and his adviser Stephen Miller "world-class haters" in a post on X last week that has since been deleted. The network claimed the post did not meet its journalistic standards.

Substack is a newsletter platform that has grown in popularity among independent and former legacy media journalists recently, including former NBC News anchor Chuck Todd.

"I was a reporter and anchor for ABC News. And as you may have heard … I'm not there anymore," Moran posted to X. "Now I'm on Substack, that amazing space, and I can't wait to get into the important work that we all have to do."

The former anchor worked as the senior national correspondent for ABC News prior to the separation, and had been part of the network since 1997.
