ICE arrests illegal migrant wanted for manslaughter in Mexico

Law enforcement on Monday announced the arrest of an illegal immigrant wanted for voluntary manslaughter in Mexico.

"Enforcement and Removal Operations Newark and members of the U.S. Marshals Service’s New York-New Jersey Regional Task Force arrested a Mexican national July 17 wanted in Mexico for voluntary manslaughter," reads an ICE press release.

The man first illegally entered the U.S. on July 12, 2013. U.S. Border Patrol scheduled him for expedited removal, with deportation completed on July 13.

The man later returned "at an unknown location and on an unknown date. "He voluntarily departed the United States Dec. 21, 2021, on a flight from Houston, Texas, to Acapulco, Mexico."

The unnamed migrant reentered once more under unknown circumstance. Interpol issued a Red Notice for him "April 30, 2024, indicating that he was wanted for the crime of voluntary manslaughter in Mexico."

ICE reports "Mexican authorities issued an arrest warrant July 12, 2013." The man faces up to 22 years in prison.

ICE is holding the man pending deportation.
