Trump says he will attend meeting with Japan officials to negotiate tariff deal

President Donald Trump said Wednesday morning he will take part in a meeting later in the day between top officials in his administration and Japan officials to negotiate a tariff deal.

"Japan is coming in today to negotiate Tariffs, the cost of military support, and 'TRADE FAIRNESS,'" Trump wrote on TRUTH Social. "I will attend the meeting, along with Treasury & Commerce Secretaries."

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Monday said that he would be helping lead trade negotiations with Japan.

"Hopefully something can be worked out which is good (GREAT!) for Japan and the USA!" Trump's post concluded.

Last week, Trump put a 90-day pause on tariffs for multiple countries due to so many reaching out to make trade deals.

Trump accused Japan of being unfair to the U.S. when it comes to trade and said he wanted a better deal to benefit both countries.
