Antifa Leader on Security Watchlist Elected to French Parliament
An Antifa leader on a French security watchlist who has been accused of defending the October 7th Hamas terror attacks and violently attacking a right-wing activist was elected to the French parliament.
The far-left New Popular Front alliance gained the largest seat share in the French National Assembly after the country’s second round of voting on Sunday.
One of the successful NPF candidates was Raphaël Arnault, leader of the Lyon Antifa collective ‘Jeune Garde Antifasciste’ (Young Antifascist Guard), who defeated populist National Rally candidate Catherine Jaouen with 54.98 per cent of the vote.
Arnault’s political campaign, which was backed by far-left La France Insoumise (LFI) leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon, sparked controversy after it was revealed Arnault has an “S-file” on his name, meaning that he is on the French government’s national security watchlist.
“The list typically catalogues people who pose a threat to the safety of the state such as terrorists, however, it also includes violent environmentalists or members of extremist political groups, such as the Antifa group to which Arnault belongs,” reports Breitbart.
“Because having an S-file does not equate to a criminal conviction — or even necessarily state surveillance — it means that there are no restrictions on Arnault entering the National Assembly.”
Despite downplaying a confrontation on Paris subway which occurred in May as a “brief altercation,” Arnault’s Antifa group was accused of attacking a 15-year-old who claimed to have been assaulted for being a “supposed jew”and a “zionist”.
Eight members of the Antifa group were indicted on June 27th for their involvement in the alleged attack.
A young right-wing activist also accused Arnault and another member of the Young Antifascist Guard of beating him with a helmet during a separate incident.
Arnault was questioned by police following the October 7th Hamas terror attack in Israel after describing the slaughter as part of a “resistance” movement.
As we document in the video above, Antifa members gathered at the Place de la République to celebrate the election victory, displaying a banner which asserted France was a country of immigrants, before some of them went on to engage in violent rioting.
Not only is France becoming overrun by radical Islamo-leftists, it is now apparently electing them to serve in government.
