Gayle King Slams “Haters” Who Say She Isn’t an Astronaut
Journalist Gayle King, who was one of the celebrities who took part in the Blue Origin PR stunt, called out “haters” who say she isn’t an astronaut and refused to accept that the space flight was just a “ride.”
King was in the Jeff Bezos-funded rocket alongside other rich celebrities, including Katy Perry and Lauren Sanchez.
Despite the trip lasting just 11 minutes and the all female crew only reaching very low earth orbit, King appears to think she’s on a par with Neil Armstrong.

King referred to herself and the other women on board as “astronauts,” which is probably the biggest insult to actual astronauts ever uttered.
“I don’t like that people are calling it a ride,” said King, adding that people wouldn’t say a male astronaut took a “ride”.
This is patently ridiculous comparison, given the extent of King’s training involved getting in and out of the capsule and knowing how to put on a seatbelt.
The broadcast journalist also suggested that the PR stunt was important because it captured crucial “information,” although what that information consisted on she couldn’t specify.
King herself spent much of her time during the flight messing around with a cuddly toy, while Katy Perry was glued to the on board camera promoting her next tour.
Calling on her critics to do their “due diligence,” King arrogantly asked, “My question is, have y’all been to space?”
“I know there are cranky Yankees, I know there are some haters, but I’m not gonna let people steal my joy and steal the joy of what we did or what we accomplished that day,” King said.
“”I’m just not going to let it in. I’m not,” she added, while obviously letting it in.
