UK Supreme Court Rules A ‘Woman’ Is Defined By Biological Sex
The Supreme Court in the UK has unanimously ruled that the terms ‘women’ and ‘sex’ ONLY refer to biological women, in a massive victory for women’s rights campaigners.
The decision was communicated by Lord Hodge who explained that under the Equality Act of 2010, transgender individuals with a government issued gender recognition certificate (GRC) should not be treated as women.

The case was brought by campaign group For Women Scotland (FWS), in response to the inclusion of transgender individuals with GRCs in a 50 per cent female quota mandated for public boards in Scotland.
While the group’s case against the Scottish Government was rejected by judges in Edinburgh three years ago, an appeal was sanctioned by the Supreme Court and played out this morning.
The landmark ruling directly impacts how sex and gender are legally defined and applied in UK law.
For instance, single-sex spaces and services, such as women’s bathrooms, will now be subject to clear guidelines under the law.
The women’s rights group, and everyone else in favour of common sense and science, celebrated the triumph.

absolutely jubilant here, tears!
It took three extraordinary, tenacious Scottish women with an army behind them to get this case heard by the Supreme Court and, in winning, they’ve protected the rights of women and girls across the UK. @ForWomenScot, I’m so proud to know you 🏴💜🏴💚🏴🤍🏴 https://t.co/JEvcScVVGS

You know you live in a retarded society when it takes 5 judges to rule on the blindingly fucking obvious.

Did the court just commit a hate crime?

I think this is a better summary. Bloke in a dress, no matter the shade of lippy, height of heels, or how good the 'tucking' is still a MAN. pic.twitter.com/06VZMERkSf

I'm fuming are you fucking kidding me UK Supreme Court?
This protects no one and amplifies attacks on the most vulnerable in our community.
Fuck off.
Trans Women are women.
Trans Men are men.
NB people thrive.
Gender fluid people are valid.
No ifs or buts.
supreme court rules against trans people in a case where no trans people were allowed to speak.

if the “truth” is so self-evident, why do they shut us out of the discussion? what are they afraid of?
The UK is so fucked. Supreme Court you have essentially ruined any kind of social presence for many trans people. pic.twitter.com/h3a7rucIWw

The Supreme Court sided with FWS. But it didn’t hear from a single trans person.

This ruling sets a dangerous precedent and erases trans women from protections. It puts trans rights back 20 years.
We won't stop fighting for trans rights 🏳️⚧️
Today’s Supreme Court ruling on the For Women Scotland case is a disgraceful attack on trans rights. In a process that excluded trans voices and centred anti-trans groups, this is not justice — it’s erasure. We will never stop fighting for our trans community 🏳️⚧️
