Rapper Who Launched Pro-‘Diversity’ Music Label to Fight Racism Jailed For Hammer and Knife Attack on Couple
A rapper in the UK who launched a music label to encourage more “diversity” and said he feared going outside over receiving racist comments has been jailed for 13 and a half years for violently attacking a couple with a knife and a hammer.
Rutendo Matsika, who performs as Coll, arrived in the UK as a migrant from Zimbabwe in the late 90’s.
In 2019, Matsika complained to the media about how he was on the receiving end of racist comments that left him afraid to be out in public.
“When we came here I would just be walking around and someone would shout abusive stuff at me and I didn’t know how to deal with it as in Portsmouth we hadn’t experienced any racism and it really stuck with me,” he said.
“When I played football people have also shouted really racist things which made me self-conscious and anxious and I didn’t want to go out as I didn’t know who was racist.”

It appears Matsika eventually conquered his fear of going out as it was revealed that he faces a lengthy prison sentence for violently attacking a couple with a hammer and a knife outside their home.
Victims Craig Herron and his wife Adrienne were brutally assaulted by Matsika after the rapper developed a grudge against the couple following an argument.
The Thetford & Brandon Times reports;
Having “stewed and ruminated” over the argument, Matsika then paid the couple a visit armed with a knife and hammer – as his wife called her sister to warn them he said he would “kill them”.
Mr Herron had armed himself with a pole as he waited for Matsika to arrive.
But having arrived at their address, Matsika – whose eyes were full of “anger and pure evil” – stabbed Mr Herron twice in his side with a knife.
Mr Herron fell to the ground and his wife “ran out to protect her husband” but was struck in the head by Matsika with the pole.
Although Mr Herron tried to get to his feet, he was then struck in the head by a claw hammer by Matsika “sending him back to the ground”.
Both victims were lucky to survive and Matsika was initially charged with attempted murder but later pled guilty to two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Judge Andrew Shaw said the “revenge attack” had been “premeditated and planned” and was “prolonged and persistent,” before handing down an extended 18-and-a-half year sentence – made up of 13-and-a-half years custody and five years licence.
Matsika launched a record label in 2019 to encourage “more inclusion and diversity” in the Norwich music scene, complaining that “urban acts” didn’t receive enough opportunities.
