Trump Questions Why He Was Allowed to Go Out on Stage Despite Reports of Shooter Acting Suspiciously

“I wish somebody would have done that.”

President Trump asked why his appearance at last weekend’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania wasn’t delayed after reports of the individual who turned out to be the shooter acting suspiciously.

Members of Congress briefed by law enforcement were told that Thomas Crooks was seen acting oddly at least an hour before the attempted assassination took place.

A counter sniper also flagged up the fact that Crooks was using a rangefinder and acting suspiciously 20 minutes before the shooting.

The gunman is seen in video clips from the day pacing around the area of the building from where he would fire the shots well before the shooting.

During an appearance on Fox News, Trump demanded to know why despite all these reports he was allowed to walk out on stage.

“It just shouldn’t be…when you have essentially a flat open roof like that and it’s directed at the target with absolutely nothing in its way,” said Trump.

“How can somebody be up there and he was up there for a long period of time because they have tape of him moving all over the place and then they see him and they don’t report him,” he added.

Trump asked why the report of a police officer who confronted the gunman on the roof wasn’t communicated more quickly.

“Why isn’t he calling everybody screaming saying there’s a guy with a gun up there?” asked Trump.

The former president said he would “often” delay coming on stage due to factors like the weather.

“If they said ‘sir would you wait 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes because we have a possible problem, unlikely but possible’, I wish somebody would have done that because Cory would be alive and two people who were seriously hurt would not be hurt and we wouldn’t have had all of the things that we’ve gone through,” said Trump.

A new video posted by Rep. Eli Crane shows that Secret Service had access to a window looking right out over the roof of the building where Crooks was located, prompting more questions as to how on earth they didn’t see him.
