Over the weekend, Fox News released a special report in which they partnered with a Boston-based branch of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), discovering several sordid details relating to the arrest of four alleged child rapists and an MS-13 gang member, charged with a series of violent crimes.

Fox News National Correspondent Bill Melugin posted a summary of the report, writing that they had embedded with the ICE team and saw all the aforementioned arrests take place in a single morning.

“We embedded with a team of elite Boston based ICE deportation officers as they arrested four alleged child rapists & a violent MS-13 gang member in a single morning,” Melugin wrote in a lengthy post on X. “ICE says their detainer requests on all of these illegal aliens weren’t honored by local jurisdictions due to sanctuary policies in Massachusetts.”

Melugin wrote that ICE teams told him that the policies of Massachusetts “allow illegal aliens charged or convicted with heinous crimes to roam the streets after release without any notice, and make their job more dangerous because they have to find & arrest aliens charged or convicted with aggravated felonies on the streets, instead of having them handed over in a safe environment like a jail.”

Boston ICE Field Office Director Todd Lyons told Melugin that the sanctuary policies were “frustrating,” but said that the successful arrest of five illegal immigrants who were allegedly involved in such sordid crimes was a “testament to his team.”

However, Lyons admitted that ICE Boston can only do so much, as they struggle with staffing issues not only in Massachusetts, but nationwide.

“I don’t have enough officers or resources to tackle all these public safety threats,” he said. “Are we gonna go after the child rapist today, or are we gonna go after the twice deported fentanyl dealer? Because we can’t do both.”

During the video, Melugin asks Lyons “how are you guys not notified about a child rapist being released?”

“Unfortunately, in Massachusetts, that’s how it is with most of these sanctuary jurisdictions,” he responded

“Just this morning today, four accused child rapists and one MS-13 gang member. Those are the kind of people you’re going after,” Melugin said later in the video.

“That’s every day up here in Boston,” Lyons told Melugin. “Those are the public safety threats we really want to get off the street. It was a great day, great day for the team. Five public safety threats that can’t victimize anyone anymore.”

At the end of the clip, Melugin reiterated that those suspects were out on the streets because Massachusetts was non-compliant with detainer requests from ICE. He added that the suspects are, and will remain in, federal custody until their local charges are resolved, at which point they will be deported.

Melugin also reported on the arrest of illegal immigrant Leonel Moreno, a Venezuelan TikTok star who repeatedly advised illegal migrants on how to squat in U.S. homes.

“Moreno previously crossed illegally into the U.S. in April 2022, and was released on ATD (alternatives to detention) and was instructed to report to ICE within 60 days, but never did,” Melugin reported on March 29. “ICE tells me a statement on his arrest will be coming later today.”

“Leonel Moreno is an unlawfully present citizen of Venezuela, who illegally entered the country April 23, 2022. Moreno was placed into the ATD program by Border Patrol and was told to report to Enforcement and Removal Operations office within 60 days of arriving at his destination. Moreno did not report as required,” the ICE statement read.

“On March 29, 2024, Moreno was arrested in Gahanna, Ohio by officers with ERO Detroit’s Columbus office, and is currently detained pending further immigration proceedings,” the statement concluded
