In Coffee County, Alabama, an illegal immigrant residing in the town of Enterprise has been taken into custody without bond following allegations of his rape of a mentally handicapped 14-year-old girl.
This past Monday, the community was startled as 23-year-old Pablo Mendoza faced arrest by local police, with charges stemming from an alleged act of sexual assault purported to be of the first degree.
Legal documents lodged in Coffee County outline the charge, asserting that Mendoza engaged in sex acts with the girl, who, due to her conditions, was deemed unable to consent. The incident in question reportedly took place on Tuesday, February 20.
Amid ongoing investigations, Sheriff Scott Byrd disclosed Mendoza's illegal immigration status in the U.S.
As Mendoza awaits a crucial hearing under Aniah’s Law, presided over by Judge Joshua Wilson, Sheriff Byrd has indicated that subsequent to the Alabama proceedings, deportation proceedings will commence to return Mendoza to his country of origin.
