As federal investigators look into Sean “Diddy” Combs amid a sex trafficking investigation, with multiple women and at least one man accusing him of inappropriate behavior, people have begun to compare the hip-hop mogul with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Combs has been accused of luring victims with his luxurious lifestyle and in several cases assaulting them on board a yacht he rented for trips to the Virgin Islands and Saint Barthelemy, which has drawn similarities to Epstein’s private island, Little Saint James. 

Some of the most explosive allegations stem from a February lawsuit filed by producer Lil Rod, real name Rodney Jones, against Combs, which alleges a pattern of sexual assaults and sex trafficking he claims are recorded on hidden cameras throughout the mogul's homes.

Earlier this week, Combs’ mansions in Los Angeles and Miami were raided in connection with a federal human trafficking investigation, several months after similar accusations emerged across multiple lawsuits. 

The lawsuit from Jones also alleges that Combs had an aide who held a similar role to that of Ghislaine Maxwell, the longtime lover of Epstein who has since been convicted of trafficking and other crimes.

Combs has been in legal trouble several times over the course of his 30-year career, with his first charges stemming from a stampede at an early concert of his in 1991, in which 8 people were killed, and later, in 1999, when he got into a gunfight at a New York club. However, he has largely prevailed in those legal battles. 

However, last year, Combs’ ex-girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, filed a federal lawsuit alleging rape, forced prostitution and physical abuse. 

That lawsuit was settled a day later, and Combs did not admit wrongdoing. However, more allegations of abuse began to emerge spanning several decades. 

Another lawsuit, from Joi Dickerson-Neal, alleged that Combs drugged, raped and abused her on tape while she was a college student at Syracuse University in 1991.

Another woman, Liza Gardner, also filed a lawsuit, claiming Combs allegedly coerced her into having sex at a party and that his friend also raped her. The civil complaint also alleges that Combs beat her up several days after the coercion. 

He was named in a third lawsuit from a Jane Doe who was underage at the time of her alleged sexual assault.

Jones’ case alleges that there are “HUNDREDS of hours of footage and audio recordings of Mr. Combs, his staff, and his guests engaging in serious illegal activity” at mansions in multiple states and on a yacht that traveled to the U.S. Virgin Islands and Saint Barthelemy. 

“It is like Epstein,” said Derrick Parker, a former member of the NYPD's rap intelligence unit who investigated the 1999 nightclub shooting. “It borders on that … and the reason being is that these video tapes are going to be very interesting.”
