Gun control advocate David Hogg found himself challenged on the principles of the Second Amendment in a video circulating on social media Thursday, where he engaged in a spirited exchange with Chinese immigrant Lily Tang Williams

She raised a pointed question to Hogg: “Can you guarantee me, a gun owner tonight, our government in the US, in DC, will never become a tyrannical government?”

“Can you guarantee that to me?” she continued after stepping up to the microphone about halfway through the two-hour event.

Hogg's response was candid: “There is no way I can guarantee that any government will not be tyrannical.”

Williams, who arrived in the United States as a graduate student in 1988, and who is who is running for the Republican nomination to challenge Democratic Rep. Annie Kuster of New Hampshire, responded firmly to Hogg's acknowledgment.

“Well, then the debate on gun control is over because I will never give up my guns. Never. Never,” she said.

“And you should go to China to see how gun control works for [the] dictatorship of the CCP,” she added.

Hogg, known for his activism following the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, participated in a debate on Second Amendment issues at Dartmouth University on Wednesday.

Former Libertarian vice-presidential candidate Spike Cohen joined him in the discussion.

Williams introduced herself as a survivor of communism, highlighting the atrocities under Mao Zedong's regime in a video of the debate posted online.

“Under Mao, you know, 40 million people were starving to death after he sold communism to them. And 20 million people died, murdered during his ‘Cultural revolution,'” she said at the onset.

Hogg, who has advocated for the banning of certain semi-automatic firearms labeled as “assault weapons,” was blasted online following the exchange. Meanwhile Williams was praised for her question.

The gun control advocate also found himself amidst controversy earlier this week after his left-wing gen-z PAC was exposed for blowing over $1M on lavish expenses.

Breitbart reported on Monday that scrutiny targeted Hogg’s PAC for its financial allocations. Rather than directing funds towards electoral campaigns, the PAC has diverted a significant portion of the millions raised to cover expenses such as travel bills, political consultancy fees, and legal expenses.

Out of the $3 million raised in its inaugural year, the PAC allocated only $263,000 towards its stated mission of supporting Generation Z candidates and contributing to Democratic Party committees.

The significant allocation of funds, totaling over $1.3 million, towards consultancy firms and legal fees raised important questions about the PAC’s financial management.

Hogg and collaborator Kevin Lata received substantial compensation themselves, with Hogg receiving close to $40,000 in payroll payments and Lata surpassing $50,000. While these payments may not equal full annual salaries, they underscore the considerable financial remuneration associated with their roles in PAC management.
