Shark Tank star Kevin O'Leary didn't hold back in his criticism of New York Attorney General Letitia James on Tuesday, denouncing her lawsuit against Donald Trump as nothing short of an “attack on America.”
During an appearance on Fox News' Outnumbered, O'Leary weighed in on the hefty $454 million bond requirement imposed on Trump as a result of James' legal action.
“This is the United States of America. This is this is an assault on what we believe to be core. And I find it extraordinary. I think it's very troubling,” O'Leary said.
“It has absolutely nothing to do with Donald Trump at this point.” the business mogul emphasized, “This is an attack on America, and I don't know how you can look at it any other way.”
This isn't the first time O'Leary has voiced his disapproval of the ruling against Trump. Previously, he expressed his shock over the decision during an interview with Fox Business Network.
O'Leary remarked, “I can't even understand or fathom the decision at all. There's no rationale for it.” He also criticized New York's economic policies, labeling it as a “loser state” due to high taxes and uncompetitive regulations.
In response to O'Leary remarks, Trump praised him, stating, “Kevin O'Leary is so great, and tells it like it is. Businesses will flee NYC & State after the Corrupt Judge's ruling!”
Judge Arthur Engoron ruled in favor of James in her lawsuit against Trump, his adult sons, and The Trump Organization last month. The lawsuit alleged that Trump had exaggerated the value of his properties and net worth to secure more favorable bank loans and tax arrangements.
Trump was slapped with fines exceeding $400 million as a consequence, and he and his sons were prohibited from conducting business in New York for up to three years.
Trump's legal team filed a document in court on Monday, confessing their inability to meet the bond requirement. They cited the enormous sum of over $464 million and the “practical impossibility” of obtaining such a massive appeal bond under the current circumstances.
Resist The Mainstream reported earlier that fellow Shark Tank host and vocal Trump critic, Mark Cuban, recently came to the former president's defense after Democratic lawmaker Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) said Trump was lying about his his ability to pay the bond.
“Ted, you know I'm no supporter of Trump. That's for damn sure,” Cuban said. “But you are wrong on this topic.”
Trump faces a deadline of March 25 to post the full bond amount unless the appeals court intervenes by dismissing or reducing the judgment. Failure to meet this deadline could result in James seizing some of Trump's assets and properties.
