Photos captured the chaos that ensued after former President Donald Trump was shot during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.
The sounds of shots rang out as Trump grabbed around his neck area and he quickly dropped to the ground as he was instantly swarmed by Secret Service agents. After he got up, he raised his fist and signaled to the crowd to “fight” as the Secret Service rushed him off stage.
Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said that Trump was “fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility.” He added that Trump “thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act.”
In a post to Truth Social, Trump said he was shot in the ear.
Photos from the scene show the incident as it unfolded and the aftermath as Trump was led off the stage.
After shots rang out, Trump first looked around trying to figure out what was going on before grabbing his ear.
After the gunfire, Trump dove to the ground, and he was tackled by the Secret Service.
One photo showed Trump at the bottom of the dogpile with a bloodied face.
Law enforcement at the scene quickly mobilized.
Chaos erupted after Trump was shot.
Soon after, Trump got up surrounded by Secret Service agents, and raised his fist in the air, urging his supporters to keep fighting.
Trump’s left ear was bloodied as he was evacuated from the area.
The former president was taken to a nearby medical facility for care, according to Trump’s campaign. The statement also said Trump was “fine” and thanked law enforcement and first responders “for their quick action during this heinous act.”
Rally attendees were left stunned and saddened by the violence.
The U.S. Secret Service said in a statement that “a suspected shooter fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside of the rally venue.”
The statement added, “US Secret Service personnel neutralized the shooter, who is now deceased. US Secret Service quickly responded with protective measures and the former president is safe and being evaluated. One spectator was killed, two spectators were critically injured. The incident is currently under investigation and the Secret Service has formally notified the Federal Bureau of investigation.”
