Former President Donald Trump’s campaign said on Saturday that the former president was “fine” and being checked out at a local medical facility after he appeared to be shot at a political rally.
Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said that Trump was “fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility.”
He said that Trump “thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act.”
Trump had blood on the side of his face after what sounded like gunshots rang out as he spoke to a large crowd of supporters in Pennsylvania.
After he got up, he raised his fist and signaled to the crowd to “fight” as the Secret Service rushed him off stage.
“An incident occurred the evening of July 13 at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania,” the U.S. Secret Service said in a statement. “The Secret Service has implemented protective measures and the former President is safe. This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released when available.”
