Former Congressman Adam Kinzinger has come under fire after taking another public shot at former President Donald Trump. Kinzinger, who lambasted Trump’s demeanor towards the Governor of Georgia recently, sparked a notable response from commentator Brandon Tatum, who accused Kinzinger of hypocrisy and emotional weakness after the former GOP Rep. called Trump “scared” and “weak.”

In a tweet, Tatum contrasted Trump’s resilience in the face of an assassination attempt on his life to Kinzinger’s emotional response to the January 6th Capitol protest.

“Trump got shot and didn’t cry. You cried over a protest. Don’t ever use the word weak again, especially about a man you have to mention DAILY to stay relevant,” Tatum wrote, his words resonating with a significant portion of the Republican base who view Trump’s unflinching persona as a hallmark of strong leadership.

Tatum further criticized Kinzinger for his political stance post-Congress, suggesting that Kinzinger’s relevance faded as he distanced himself from Trump’s influential shadow. “Adam Kinzinger sold his soul as soon as he became irrelevant in politics. Trump made him and many others (Romney) irrelevant. That’s why they truly hate him.”

Initially supportive of some of Trump’s policies, Kinzinger’s stance shifted significantly following the 2020 presidential election and the events of January 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol. After the Capitol breach, Kinzinger became one of the most vocal Republican critics of Trump.

He voted to impeach Trump and has repeatedly criticized Trump’s influence over the GOP, arguing that the party needs to move away from Trumpism to regain its traditional values and broader appeal. He chose not to seek re-election in 2022 after redistricting would have pitted him against another Republican incumbent.
